The Chum Famine of '59 was a famine that seems to have taken place in 1959.
History
Mr. Krabs referenced this in the episode "Hooky," stating that no employee of the Krusty Krab had taken a break since then. The famine is again referenced in "Frozen Face-Off," when Mr. Krabs recalls being forced to eat kelp during the famine, which he found "kind of dry, but good."
