It was confirmed by Vincent Waller on May 10, 2022 that he retired and no longer works for the SpongeBob SquarePants franchise.[1] He left after having directed a couple episodes of season 13 and one episode of The Patrick Star Show.

Real Monsters, Hey Arnold!, CatDog, The Wild Thornberrys, Catscratch, Sanjay and Craig, and The Patrick Star Show. He has also worked on eight animated films: The Chipmunk Adventure, Oliver & Company, The Little Mermaid, Box-Office Bunny, Gumby: The Movie, Looney Tunes: Back in Action, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water. Alan Smart also worked on the pilot episode of the TV series, Family Dog and was an animation director on Clone High and 101 Dalmatians: The Series (according to the credits).
