"Frankendoodle" is a SquarePants episode from season two.
Brief summary: When an artist-at-sea drops his pencil into the sea, SpongeBob and Patrick have some fun with it. But, in an attempt to prank Squidward with a fake SpongeBob (called Doodlebob), they unleash a terrible evil on Bikini Bottom, and attempt to destroy it.
Characters
*Artist Debut
Time/Date:
*French Narrator
*Day over water: The Artist drops the pencil.
*Seagull
*Day in the sea: Spongebob creates Doodlebob
*SpongeBob SquarePants
*3:00 or near it: SB and Patrick get ambushed by Doodlebob and gets defeated by Spongebob
*9:55: Doodlebob revives himself and tries to get REVENGE!
On the ocean's surface, an artist in a rowboat sketches feverishly. Unfortunately, his pencil slips from his hand and falls into the sea. While screaming "No!," the French Narrator states the first rule of the artist at sea: "Always bring a spare pencil."

Down on the ocean floor, SpongeBob and Patrick are playing "Rock-Paper-Scissors" with bubbles when the pencil suddenly lands in between them. SpongeBob and Patrick, at first terrified of the large artifact, start to doodle with it. They soon discover that whatever they draw with the pencil comes to life, and thus dub it the "magic pencil."
Plot
SpongeBob soon draws "DoodleBob," a sketch version of himself intended to fool Squidward. However, DoodleBob beats Squidward up and steals the magic pencil, going off to wreak havoc across the seascape. SpongeBob and Patrick attempt to ambush DoodleBob, but fail when he appears too early before they could. SpongeBob eventually turns the tide of battle and uses the pencil's eraser to rub out DoodleBob.
At sea, an artist is drawing a sketch, when he accidentally drops his pencil into the sea, which makes him cry. The number one rule of the artist at sea: Always bring a spare pencil. SpongeBob and Patrick are playing 'Rock, Paper, Scissors' using bubbles, when the pencil shoots down like a missile and slams on the ground, making a small crater. SpongeBob draws a jellyfish, then it comes alive. They realise that it's a magic pencil, and wreak havoc on poor Squidward. SpongeBob then draws DoodleBob, a sketch version of himself. DoodleBob wreaks havoc (he steals the magic pencil) until SpongeBob erases him (the eraser end of the pencil is capable of erasing anything, not just drawings). However, the arm is still there, and in the night he steals the pencil and draws itself back. The pencil is snapped in half (DoodleBob has the eraser and SpongeBob has the pencil), then SpongeBob presumes that they both have equal power. DoodleBob sharpens his half, so he has an eraser and a pencil. He is finally trapped inside a book (he sticks to paper), and the page is framed on a wall. The pencil is propelled back to the artist. He grabs it and continues drawing, but the lead snaps. The rule of the artist at sea number 2: Always bring a pencil sharpener. The episode ends with the artist screaming.
Quotes
*SpongeBob: It's a jellyfish!
Unbeknownst to SpongeBob and Patrick, a lone arm remains, and in the night it steals the pencil back from SpongeBob and redraws its body while adding his angry eyebrows. DoodleBob then attempts to erase SpongeBob, and during the struggle, the pencil snaps in half. DoodleBob has the eraser and SpongeBob has the point. However, DoodleBob sharpens his half and SpongeBob accidentally flicks his pencil out of the window at Squidward's head. DoodleBob corners SpongeBob in front of a bookshelf, but steps on a sheet of paper and finds his foot absorbed into it.
:Patrick: Pretty good, SpongeBob, but its lacking basic construction, and your perspective leaves a lot to be desired.
:SpongeBob: Huhhh! Everybody's a critic.
:Patrick: SpongeBob! Your drawing's coming to life!!
:SpongeBob: Now, that's more like it Mr. Critic.
:Patrick: No! I mean it's swimming away!
:SpongeBob: Do you know what this means Patrick?
:Patrick: Your art can never hang in a museum.
*SpongeBob: Hold it right there, Doodle! I brought you into this world and now I'm going to take you out. Any last words?
Seizing his chance, SpongeBob closes DoodleBob in a book, in which the doodle is finally happy. The page with DoodleBob is then framed on a wall. Patrick arrives and listens to SpongeBob's musings on the nature of his doppelgänger, taking SpongeBob's photograph for the doodle. Knowing it's too dangerous in the wrong hands, they decide to send the magic pencil back from where it came, shooting it back up to the distraught artist.
:DoodleBob: (blabs in gibberish)
:SpongeBob: I'm sorry, what was that?
:DoodleBob: (repeats gibberish slowly. Sounded like "Bee-ba... Bala hala ba-ba.")
*Squidward: (to himself) You've got looks, talent, all you need is a full head of... (Patrick's magic moustache lands on Squidward's head) HAIR!!!
With his drawing instrument returned, the artist excitedly prepares to begin a new masterpiece, but when the pencil meets the canvas, the lead snaps. As the French Narrator states the second important rule of the artist at sea, "Always bring a pencil sharpener," the artist screams "No!" again.

Trivia
:Patrick: So, he's a drawing?
General
:SpongeBob: Exactly.
*SpongeBob is colored in a noticeably darker shade of yellow in this episode.
**This also occurs in "Krusty Love" and "Sailor Mouth," though he's a slightly brighter shade of yellow in those episodes.
*This is the first episode for two things:
**The first episode where Paul Tibbitt provides a voice for a character.
**The first episode to use the tracks "Lonely Stranger" and "Fancytale."
*This is the last episode for two things:
**The last episode to credit Walt Dohrn and Paul Tibbitt as directors.
**The last episode to have Chris Headrick as a storyboard director.
*The artist at sea is portrayed by Doug Lawrence, one of the main writers on the show and the voice of Plankton, Larry the Lobster, Potty the Parrot (starting from "Feral Friends"), and Fred, among others.
*The pencil is longer in live-action compared to its animated version.
*Patrick's question on whether it is DoodleBob's birthday can actually be answered affirmatively, as it is still the day of DoodleBob's creation.
*This episode was paired up with different episodes in different marathons:

*The scene where DoodleBob repeatedly slams Squidward to the ground was later reused in "Squidiot Box."
*Patrick's appearances in this episode inspired numerous popular internet memes, including:
**"Where's the leak, ma'am?"
**Patrick wishing DoodleBob a happy birthday and getting hit on the head with a rock and saying, "You're welcome."
**Patrick saying "Finland!" after DoodleBob throws a bowling ball at him as a bowling pin with a strike. He later references this quote by saying it again (while in pain) in "Accidents Will Happen" and The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water.

Trivia/Goofs
Dub facts
*This episode could be considered a look at the relationship between the artist and his creations, more further explored in The Singing Detective and The Tempest. The creation, DoodleBob, has become self-aware, and wishes to usurp the artist, SpongeBob, who did not understand all of DoodleBob's dimensional being. In the end, the artist has total control of his creation, as is with many stories, with SpongeBob trapping his art in a piece of paper.
*In different countries, there are dialogue changes for the "Finland!" joke.
*The title is a spoof on both Frankenstein and doodle.
**In the Russian dub, this joke was changed. SpongeBob says, "Where are you, Patrick?" and Patrick says, "In Finland!"
*When SpongeBob breaks the pencil, the pencil gets chopped in half, but after DoodleBob pointed SpongeBob with it, after SpongeBob accidentally threw his half, the pencil was in its regular length.
**In the French dub, SpongeBob asks to Patrick "Did you get hurt?," while Patrick says "No, not at all."
*Patrick suffers four concussions in this episode (all in the span of just over a minute), all at DoodleBob's hands.
**In the Arabic dub, SpongeBob asks "Are you okay?," and Patrick replies "I'm not okay."
*DoodleBob speaks his own language similar to the caveman talk used by SpongeGar, Patar, and Squog, in the episode Ugh.
**In the Filipino, Italian, Korean, Thai, Chinese (Cantonese/Mainland China), and Japanese dubs, Patrick says, "Strike!" rather than "Finland!"
*The person who voiced DoodleBob is Paul Tibbitt, one of the many people who do additional voices on the show.
**In the Hebrew dub, Patrick says, "Sweden!" rather than "Finland!"
*At first, SpongeBob calls his creation "DoodleBoy" but later calls him DoodleBob, probably a reference to SpongeBob's original name.
**In the Serbian dub, Patrick says, "Happy Birthday! (срећан рођендан)" rather than "Finland!
*DoodleBob also appeared in Nicktoons Unite.
**In the German dub, Patrick says, "Strike!" ("Allen Neune!", an expression for hitting every pin in bowling)" rather than "Finland!"
* This episode is the second time that Patrick mocks SpongeBob's clothes, the first time being in "I'm with Stupid"
**In the Taiwanese Mandarin dub, Patrick says, "才怪!" which colloquially means "Yeah, right!"
*At the start of the episode, the artist is seen making many strokes on the canvas. But when he gets the pencil back at the end of the episode, the canvas is blank.
*In the Finnish dub, Patrick says "Suomi!" (Finland).
*Patrick broke the fourth wall when he got hit by bowling balls by DoodleBob.
*When DoodleBob erases SpongeBob's pants, you see he has a butt. But in Nature Pants and Hooky when SpongeBob is naked, he has no butt.
*DoodleBob's hand crawling into SpongeBob's house might be a reference to "The Addams' Family"
*12th episode to have ducks in the title card.
*Thare is a video game based on this episode called Drawn to Life: SpongeBob SquarePants Edition, Drawn to Life: Spongebob Squarepants Edition is also a Spin-off from Drawn to Life.
