Lifeguards are enemies that appear in the video game Revenge of the Flying Dutchman.

Description

The lifeguards are muscular, olive green fish with dark green lips and a single tooth. They have a lot of chest hair and a small beard, and they have big arms in contrast to their small legs. Many red spikes protrude from their arms and backs. For clothing, they wear white vests with a red medical cross in the middle and red pants. They also wear a pair of sunglasses and have a whistle in their mouths.

The lifeguards can come in two sizes: small size and big size, who are twice as big as the ordinary ones. The larger lifeguards do not talk, unlike the smaller ones who are very vocal. The small lifeguards take one hit to defeat, while the big ones take three hits.

Role in game

While SpongeBob is visiting Goo Lagoon, many small lifeguards are scattered around the main area. If he approaches one, the lifeguard will try to attack him.

If SpongeBob approaches the lifeguard tower near the juice stand, the small lifeguard in it will hop down and SpongeBob will ask if he can sit in the tower, but the guard denies him and becomes hostile. Defeating him will result in a lifeguard tower rising from the ground with a large lifeguard, who will fight SpongeBob. This repeats until there are five lifeguard towers near the juice stand. SpongeBob can then use these to get to the 'P' letter tile on top of the stand.
