Object

The pearl is a hard, glistening object that is produced within the soft tissue of a living shelled mollusk. The clams' mouths have that object in it. It first appears in the episode "The Smoking Peanut."

Description

Its appearance varies by episode but it is mainly purple or white with a shiny glow to it. It is shaped like a bowling ball.

Role in series

Mr. Krabs steals the pearl from Clamu while she is asleep and causes her to wail in distress for multiple days. At the end of the episode, a zookeeper catches Mr. Krabs and returns in the pearl, which hatches into a newborn clam right afterwards.

"Porous Pockets"

A giant clam spits a pearl out after choking on it. SpongeBob and Patrick find it and get the idea to sell it for money.

Crater Crossing

Pearls are used to give SpongeBob an extra life.

"The Clam Whisperer"

At the Krusty Krab, a clam spits a pearl into the floor. Mr. Krabs checks the quality of that pearl and then all of a sudden, his attitude changed towards the clams.
