The coconut (also known as new guy) is a sentient coconut that first appears in the episode "Enchanted Tiki Dreams." He later has a major role in the comic New Guy.

Description

In both appearances, he mainly looks like an average coconut most of the time (although in "Enchanted Tiki Dreams," he appears as a drink). However, he can form a mouth anytime (such as in the end of the comic New Guy).

"Enchanted Tiki Dreams"

He appears as Squidward's drink given by Gary during his time in the Enchanted Tiki Island. At one point, Squidward goes to the Smoothie Hut in order to get a refill on his coconut. Although he gets annoyed at Patrick being there, he still enjoys the flam smoothie that Patrick made, and continues to go with it. During the "Squidward's Tiki Land" song, the coconut becomes sentient and starts singing a portion of the song. He shares the exact same voice as the Enchanted tikis.

"Stormy Weather"

The coconut can be seen on a table when Gale Doppler attempts to relax.

"Plane to Sea"

The coconut can be seen being carried by Incidental 45 at Bora Bora Bottom.

The coconut falls from Bikini Atoll and drops by everybody's house. SpongeBob and Patrick find the coconut and assume that it is a new guy. SpongeBob says that Patrick could have hurt the new guy's feelings when he said he was funny looking, but Patrick soon points out that the new guy has no ears. SpongeBob and Patrick then introduce themselves to the new guy and ask if they want to play games with him. SpongeBob and Patrick then play tag and leapfrog with the new guy all day, before then going to bed in order to play with him tomorrow. SpongeBob notices that the new guy is still outside, but he gives him a sandwich just in case he is hungry. SpongeBob then notices that the new guy is still out there and possibly stalking him. SpongeBob denies it due to them having fun yesterday, but SpongeBob later thinks the new guy is creepy and gets paranoid. The next day, SpongeBob tells Patrick that the new guy is stalking him. Patrick at first denies it, but later believes it and they hide from the new guy for a while. Squidward later comes in and asks if the coconut is what they were afraid of. SpongeBob and Patrick then finally realize that the new guy was just a coconut. However, the coconut becomes sentient and complements SpongeBob's sandwich, much to SpongeBob and Patrick's excitement, and Squidward's shock.
