It is red in the show and the LEGO version is orange and has porthole windows. It has a submarine scope on the top, which makes it look like a submarine with wheels. The Bus is stopped locally at the Bus Stop in the streets in Bikini Bottom. It also resembles the look of a shrimp.

Bikini Bottom buses are red in the series, but the [[LEGO SpongeBob SquarePants|LEGO set]] version is orange. They also have porthole windows and periscopes on the top, giving them the appearance of a submarine with wheels. It also resembles the look of a shrimp, while the rear end of the bus represents a fish's tail. In early seasons, its headlights were light blue however, from season 3 and onwards, they become yellow. In more recent seasons, the buses are sometimes seen with overhead signs.
 
Typically, most of its passengers are regular Bikini Bottomites, though other animals are also allowed to board the bus, as shown in "[[Dumped]]," "[[Have You Seen This Snail?]]," and "[[Pet or Pests]]." Most buses seem to have a "no singing" policy, as seen in "[[A Flea in Her Dome]]."
