Synopsis
A sleeping Gary wakes up and looks for food. He eats a tomato from Mrs. Puff's vegetable garden. When Mrs. Puff finds him, she begins chasing after him. Gary hides under SpongeBob's cabin and sneaks in, where SpongeBob happily recognizes Gary as a "forest snail" he met last summer. Mrs. Puff comes in with a chainsaw, looking for Gary. She sees what appears to be a trail of slime, which turns out to be Patrick's drool, and realizes that he must not be there. She threatens to salt Gary if she finds him, wielding her chainsaw and leaving. Gary explains that he was just hungry and did not know he was stealing, and he feels bad about it.
SpongeBob asks Sandy for help on how to sneak Gary out of camp. Meanwhile, Mrs. Puff is going around the camp, chasing down those who do not tell her where Gary is. Sandy and SpongeBob disguise Gary as a regular camper. They run into Krabs, who questions where Gary's kerchief is. Patrick quickly fastens his to Gary's new body. Krabs punishes Patrick and throws him out of camp, although SpongeBob and Sandy are not concerned.
Perch announces the upcoming picnic, and suddenly, Mrs. Puff's voice comes through on the intercom and tells the campers to kill Gary if they see him. SpongeBob, Gary, and Sandy participate in the picnic's three-legged race, getting tripped up and making it in first place. Mrs. Puff compliments Gary, unaware that he is a snail. For the eating competition, Gary manages to eat everyone's food and wins. At the Picnic Awards, Mrs. Puff explains that she has grown to like Gary over the course of the picnic, and awards him a trophy.
Gary jumps out of his disguise to claim his prize. An enraged Mrs. Puff realizes who he is and starts sprays blasts of salt at him. During her chase, she accidentally runs off a cliff and drops her saltshaker, and calls for help. Gary shows up, and gives Mrs. Puff a slime rope to carry her back up. SpongeBob comes over, happy that both of them are okay. Next, Mrs. Puff holds an after-picnic luau in Gary's honor, saying that her garden is now open to both campers and snails. Krabs watches proudly, but chases Patrick when he tries to take the campers' food.
