The Bikini Bottom Express is a 19th-century express steam train that appeared in "Dad's Stache Stash."

Description

The train consists of a black, gray and red 4-6-0 "Ten Wheeler" type steam engine with a brown tender, some green and brown passenger cars, and a green and brown caboose at the end of the train.

Role in episode

Patrick rides the train in an attempt to run over his family and Rube, as Cecil tries to stop it. Cecil accidentally breaks the brake, so he uses his mustache to stop the train. Rube is accidentally hit by the train while taking a photo of the Star family.

Trivia

The black, gray and red 4-6-0 Steam Locomotive and red 4-6-0 Steam Locomotive in The End was actually based on Sierra Railway No. 3, "The Most Photographed Locomotive in the World."
This train is the only 4-6-0 steam locomotive in the franchise.
Like the Dead Eye Gulch Express and Oceanic Express' whistle, the whistle of 4-6-0 steam trains are the same as Frisco' 1522's CB&Q 5 chime.

It was built in 1891 by the Rogers Locomotive & Machine Works of Paterson, New Jersey, for the Prescott & Arizona Central Railway as their No. 3, named "''W. N. Kelley''" after the company treasurer. In 1893, the P&AC went bankrupt, and No. 3 was out of work. In 1897, the locomotive was moved from Arizona to Oakdale, California, where she resumed service as Sierra Railway No. 3. Sierra No. 3 operated in freight, passenger, and helper service until 1932, when she was retired and stored near the Jamestown Roundhouse. The locomotive was overhauled and restored to operating condition in 1948 for movie and excursion service. Sierra No. 3 was removed from service in 1996, pending major repairs. Federal regulations regarding the operation of steam locomotives in the United States were updated in the late 1990's, which led to the decision to replace the original Rogers-built boiler on the engine.
