• The title is a reference to the famous saying, "A breath of fresh air." Which means after several bad events, a good event finally happens, which is basically fits along the episode's plot line.

Trivia/Goofs

• Squidward's electric fence was operational underwater, but the electricity would have zapped the water, thus killed the sea life.
• In one scene it shows SpongeBob walking out of a bathroom and the sign on the door says "buoys" instead of boys.
• The Nickelodeon and Directv schedule calls this episode Breath of a Fresh Squidward.
