Enemy In-Law

Template:Episode "Enemy In-Law" is a SpongeBob SquarePants episode from season four. This episode was originally titled "Puny Love", but was changed to "Krusty Love" and then to "My Worst Friend's Wedding." When the episode aired on Nickelodeon it was changed to "Enemy In-Law". Still, DirecTV, TiVo, and the Nickelodeon schedule show the episode as "My Worst Friend's Wedding".

Brief summary: Mr. Krabs' mom is dating again, and it seems like things could be serious. At first Krabs is happy for his mother, but he is absolutely horrified when he learns that the secret paramour is his arch-rival Plankton.

Plot

Sick of his computer "wife" Karen,Plankton spots Mrs.Krabs and falls in love with her. Plus, he turns off Karen. Convinced that this just another trick aimed at getting the family formula for Krabby Patties (which was not), Krabs tries to reveal Plankton's schemes and break up the ill-favored fling. Krabs decides to break up that fishy relationship before he winds up with the world's tiniest stepfather and before Plankton finally gets the secret formula for Krabby Patties. While accusing Plankton for the "scheme" he reveals to Plankton that his mother (Mrs.Krabs) knew the secret recipie giving Plankton an opportunity. But,the robot (Plankton had created) causes the downfall of their relationship and finds out about Plankton's scheme after he tells her. Then he gets flung out of the Krusty Krab by her and Karen gets turned back on as he bounces off the "on" button.

• In German this episode is called "Wo die liebe hinfallt" which means "Where the love falls".
• The title and plot is a reference to "Monster-in-Law."
• Mr.Krabs might be lying when he says everyone in his family knows the formula for the Krabby Patty.
• Betsy Krabs' phone number is 791-347.
• Besty Krabs showing her muscle and in it being army tanks is a reference to the Popeye cartoons where the same thing would happen with Popeye.
• Betsy Krabs tells Plankton that she is not ready for marriage commitment, despite her having an already old son and a granddaughter.
• In Friend or Foe it is revealed that Plankton and Mr. Krabs grew up together, so it's very unlikely that Plankton hasn't met Eugene's mother earlier.
• Mr. Krabs said that the formula was passed down through the family, but in Friend Or Foe, Plankton and Mr. Krabs made the formula together.

When The Chum-Bot is holding Betsy Krabs it's a reference to the movie King Kong when Kong is holding Ann while rampaging through New York City.

• The Title card is similar to the episode Welcome to the Chum Bucket.
• Since Mr. Krabs and Plankton grew up together, that means Betsy Krabs is a whole generation older than him. She already looks kind of old in Friend or Foe during flashbacks. This is similar to old Mr. Krabs having a young daughter.
• When Plankton calls Betsy Krabs, she says she's hanging up, because it sounds like Plankton is having sex with another woman. But Plankton is just breathing really hard.
• in a couple scenes, Mr. Krabs's office door is not seen.
• 40th time Patrick doesn't appear.
• Spongebob became a Waiter before in Squilliam Returns.
• Even though Plankton ate at the Krusty Krab he did not steal the formula.
