Fred is a dark-green/brown fish who was the first of the regular generic character models to appear in the series, first being seen in "Reef Blower" but is barely even seen, being only seen in a car as Spongrbob zooms past him, and is arguably the most prominently used. He is most often seen at the Krusty Krab. The name "Fred" was used in "Patty Hype". He is voiced by Doug Lawrence.

He has been duplicated in several episodes, most notably "Sandy, SpongeBob and the Worm" and "The Chaperone".

A blue-colored variant of him is seen in several episodes, including "Pickles", "Something Smells", and "Party Pooper Pants".

Notable Roles

  • In "Jellyfish Hunters", he is the first person to try SpongeBob's "Jelly Patty", and sings a song proclaiming how great it is.
  • In "All That Glitters", a variant of this model sells SpongeBob an extremely expensive spatula, which he gives up everything he owns, including his clothes, to buy.
  • In "One Krab's Trash" he offers Mr. Krabs one million dollars for a hat.
  • In "Sing a Song of Patrick", Fred leads an angry mob against SpongeBob and Patrick due to Patrick's horrible song.
