Betsy Krabs (frequently called Mama Krabs) is Eugene Krabs's mother and Pearl Krabs's grandmother. The episodes that have featured her have shown her to be very strict and no-nonsense. In "Sailor Mouth", she makes Mr. Krabs, SpongeBob, and Patrick repaint her pink anchor home as punishment for foul language, and in "Mid-Life Crustacean", she grounds her son for the night after he steals her bloomers. In "Enemy In-Law", she briefly dates Plankton, but turns down his marriage proposal. She is voiced by Paul Tibbitt in her first two appearances, but is voiced by Sirena Irwin in her third appearance. One way to tell the change was of the voice. In "Sailor Mouth" and "Mid-Life Crustacean", her voice was like that of an old person's. However, in "Enemy In-Law" and "Friend or Foe", her voice sounds younger with a slight Scottish accent. Her phone number is 791347. In the episode "Friend or Foe" she was shown younger, without wrinkles or gray hair and her name was revealed to be Betsy. She debuted in season six in the episode "Spongicus", in which she made two cameos at the Krusty Krab and in the Chum Coliseum.

Mama Krabs is an short red plump old crab with two green eyestalks on top of her head, crinkled nose, two claws and very short legs who wears purple dress and has 'Big Meaty Claws'. Her skin is becoming wrinkly and she wears large black glasses. On her back is a fluff of white. If she didn't have white hair, glasses, and a purple dress she would really look like Mr. Krabs. In "Friend or Foe", which takes place around 30-40 years in the past, she looks no younger than in her other appearances.

Trivia/Goofs

In "Stanley S. SquarePants", in a throwaway scene, three nephews of Mr. Krabs are shown, who are a parody of Disney's Huey, Dewey and Louie. This would imply that Betsy Krabs has another son.
A portrait of her married to her husband is shown in the episode "Mid-Life Crusteacean" when she is disciplining Mr.Krabs.
She was evidently a poor woman in the mid-to late 1960s, as she had no money to buy Eugene clothes. Old Man Jenkins spared some car-washing rags from the trash can to fix him what to wear.
Mama Krabs has a laugh strikingly similar to Popeye the Sailor Man.
