Blue jellyfish are a rarest and hard type of jellyfishes to catch.

There is mostly likely only one ever to be seen by SpongeBob in "Jellyfish Hunter." The blue jellyfish was named Noname, until Spongebob caught it. Noname helped SpongeBob stop Mr. Krabs from using jellyfish jelly for the Krabby Patties, in whcih they succeeded. In the end, Noname was caught by SpongeBob and renamed to Friend.

In the video game, [Revenge of the Flying Dutchman]], the player fights wild blue jellyfish. The boss is a big blue jellyfish and the smaller ones protects the boss. To defeat the boss, the player most catch the smaller blue ones with the fishing net, not touching them. While the player catches the jellyfish, the must hit the blue jellyfish with the bubbles to become the greatest jellyfisher ever. Blowing bubbles on the stingers is uneffective.
