Reception
Trivia
- When Spot chases after the fuel rod, the activating sound of a lightsaber from Star Wars is heard.
- There are 62 bottles in the title card.
- This episode references numerous past episodes:
- SpongeBob washing Mr. Krabs' first dollar is a reference to "Wet Painters."
- Karen's "kissy face" screensaver from "Grandmum's the Word" reappears when she kisses Plankton.
- When Squidward turns on the Krusty Krab's security footage, a drawing of DoodleBob can be seen on the bottom of the table, referencing both "Frankendoodle" and "Doodle Dimension."
- SpongeBob mimicking Plankton is a reference to "Mimic Madness."
- Plankton turning into a genie when he is trying to open the Krabby Patty formula is a reference to "Spin the Bottle."
- Squidward's claustrophobia from "Wishing You Well" is brought up again in the ending.
- The boot that squishes Squidward is similar to how the Cyclops' boot squishes Dennis from the first movie.
- Squidward getting tortured by fire is similar to the deleted scene from "Just One Bite."
- The piano falling on Squidward is similar to SpongeBob dropping a piano on Plankton (Dr. Peter Lankton), twice, from "Fear of a Krabby Patty."
- When Squidward turns on the Krusty Krab's security footage, the date 05-01-99 (May 1, 1999) can be seen on the bottom of the table. This is a reference to the airdate of "Help Wanted," the first episode of SpongeBob SquarePants.
- This is the third appearance of Spot, the first being in "Plankton's Pet" and the second being in "Spot Returns."
Cultural references
- The boat that fell on top of Squidward is the RMS Titanic, a British passenger liner that sank in the Atlantic after colliding with an iceberg on April 15, 1912.
- The movie Plankton is seen watching is the 1961 horror film Creature from the Haunted Sea.
- While Karen is in sleep mode, the floating shapes on her screen are a reference to the Mystify screensaver included in Windows XP and earlier.
Errors
- In one scene, inside the Chum Bucket, SpongeBob's eyelashes disappear.
File:Eror.png - In this scene, the table is sliced, but Plankton appears to be standing on the sliced part, when he should be falling.
File:Anothererror.png - When Krabs punches through the Chum Bucket to get back the formula, he isn't seen punching through the safe.
