Template:Deletion-request Template:Channel CBS Broadcasting Inc., commonly shortened to CBS (an abbreviation of its original name, Columbia Broadcasting System), is an American commercial broadcast television and radio network. It is one of the original "Big Three" television networks, along with NBC and ABC. It is the flagship property of the CBS Entertainment Group division of Paramount Global and is one of the company's three flagship subsidiaries, along with Paramount Pictures and MTV.

CBS originally founded Viacom in 1952 as their syndication division, eventually being spun-off into a separate company in 1971. CBS was a main asset of Viacom until 2005 when Viacom was split into its own second incarnation and CBS Corporation. The two companies re-merged in 2019 to form ViacomCBS, now Paramount Global.

CBS launched CBS All Access (now Paramount+) on October 28, 2014, originally broadcasting live programming streams of local CBS affiliates in the United States. Following the re-merger with Viacom, the streaming service included Nickelodeon programming, such as SpongeBob SquarePants, which were added on July 30, 2020. The service was renamed to Paramount+ on March 4, 2021, with The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run and Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years as launch titles. Paramount+ currently has SpongeBob SquarePants seasons 1 to 13 and The Patrick Star Show season 1 available on the service.

CBS has previously broadcasted Nickelodeon programming, including SpongeBob SquarePants, on the Nick on CBS block from 2002 to 2004. The season 8 special "It's a SpongeBob Christmas!" originally aired on CBS in the United States on November 23, 2012 at 9:30 pm EST. Screen Novelties co-founder and stop-motion director Mark Caballero stated in an interview with AssignmentX that the deal to broadcast the episode on CBS came along due to the network regularly airing classic Christmas specials, such as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, and A Charlie Brown Christmas.

The series' 25th anniversary received a spotlight feature on a CBS News Sunday Morning broadcast on July 7, 2024, including an interview with voice actors Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Rodger Bumpass, Carolyn Lawrence, and Doug Lawrence, as well as preview clips of the season 14 special "Kreepaway Kamp." A CBS Newspath article was published on WKRC-TV's (Cincinatti's CBS and The CW affiliate) website, featuring behind-the-scenes images and a video behind the stop-motion for the season 14 special "Sandy's Country Christmas."
