The chatterbox translation collar is a collar that can translate a Template:Data:Links's meows. It is used to translate Template:Data:Links's meowing in the episode "Chatterbox Gary".

Description

It is a red collar with a yellow or silver speaker on the front. The collar fits around the snail's shell. Each time the snail meows, the collar immediately translates it via the speaker.

Role in episode

Template:Data:Links sees an ad for the translation collar in a magazine and buys it for Gary, who is suddenly able to communicate using more than just meowing.

Gary puts it into effective use by describing his owner and acquaintances. SpongeBob then goes to Template:Data:Links to show him that Gary can speak using his collar. Gary describes Template:Data:Links's art as unappealing and deems him naïve. Angered, Squidward wants revenge on Gary for his speeches.

During the night, Squidward breaks into SpongeBob's bedroom, steals the translation collar, and replaces it with a walkie-talkie. Afterward, Squidward speaks into Gary's collar and pressures SpongeBob with commands like giving him water and taking him to the park at a late time, essentially taking advantage of SpongeBob's tiredness.

In the morning, after SpongeBob's house has been removed from Conch Street, SpongeBob and Gary are seen in an empty space where their home used to be and the former is in a state of depression due to his homelessness. Gary's collar, under the manipulation of Squidward, suggests living in a hole "like an idiot would," prompting SpongeBob to reluctantly dig a hole. During the process, Gary notices Squidward behind a brick wall, using his collar, realizing that Squidward is responsible for the loss of SpongeBob's house.

In retaliation, Gary takes the collar back from him and kicks the walkie-talkie into Squidward's throat, which makes him sound like Gary.
