General

  • This special was originally scheduled to premiere on December 8, 2023.[2][1] It was then moved ahead to November 29, 2023[3] before being pulled entirely.[4] Not too long later, it was rescheduled one last time to December 15, 2023.[3][5]
    • The scheduling of the Nicktoons premiere of this special was similarly chaotic. It was originally scheduled to simulcast with the Nickelodeon premiere (for all of its scheduled premiere times) before being pulled entirely. It was then rescheduled to December 18, 2023 at 7:30 PM before being pulled again. Not long later, it was rescheduled one last time to 9:30 PM on the same date.
  • This is the first SpongeBob SquarePants-related media to premiere on a Friday in 2023 since "Delivery to Monster Island," due to AfterToons block being created, which premieres new episodes every weekday excluding Friday.
    • Ironically, due to "Ride Patrick Ride" not premiering on its intended premiere date of April 14, 2023 at 7:00 PM, the SpongeBob AfterToons premieres on Thursdays all had their sister episodes unaired until the next premiere block.
  • This is the fifth Christmas special, following "Christmas Who?," "It's a SpongeBob Christmas!," "SpongeBob's Road to Christmas," and "Twas the Night Before Spongemas."
    • It is also the second stand-alone Christmas special, after "Twas the Night Before Spongemas."
      • Coincidentally, they were both written by Benjamin Kurzrock.
