He is mentioned in many episodes as "Davy Jones' Locker," a place where all bad sea creatures stay in the afterlife, which makes it the underwater equivalent to Hell and the opposite of Atlantis, the underwater equivalent of Heaven then.
In "SpongeBob SquarePants vs. The Big One," Davy makes a live-action appearance to the Flying Dutchman, as he sings a few words of 'Daydream Believer,' as he was a member of "The Monkees," the group which originally sang that song.
