Template:OTab Template:Object The Flying Dutchman's lost treasures are a collection of seven items that used to belong to the Flying Dutchman. They are featured in the video game Revenge of the Flying Dutchman.
Description
As revealed in the book How to Defeat Evil Spirits, the lost treasures were a collection of the Flying Dutchman's most personal items that he kept close to himself when he was alive. These items serve as the only defense against the Dutchman's magical powers, and all seven must be in a person's possession in order to fight the Flying Dutchman.
To find a lost treasure, SpongeBob must complete tasks or feats in an area and collect nine letter tiles which spell out his name. He must then solve a sliding puzzle that reveals the location of the treasure, before donning a treasure hunter costume and finding a treasure chest hidden in the area which holds the lost treasure.
In order of collection, the seven lost treasures are:
- A stinky, dirty white and red sock (found in Bikini Bottom)
- A pair of filthy dentures (found in Sandy's treedome)
- A pair of old glasses with cracked lenses (found in Jellyfish Fields)
- A black, matted, spider-infested wig which has two pigtails with red bows (found in downtown Bikini Bottom)
- A dirty girdle (found in Goo Lagoon)
- A backscratcher made of a monkey's hand tied to a pole (found in Chum World)
- A portrait of a fat woman who could be the Flying Dutchman's mother (found in the Flying Dutchman's Graveyard)
Role in game
After accidentally releasing the Flying Dutchman, Template:Data:Links completes some tasks around Conch Street and the Krusty Krab and collects some letter tiles, which the French Narrator explains are clues to finding a hidden treasure. After collecting nine letter tiles that spells his name and then solving a sliding puzzle, SpongeBob dons a treasure hunter costume and finds a treasure chest with the hidden treasure. The "treasure" turns out to be a dirty sock, which is secretly one of the Flying Dutchman's lost treasures, though SpongeBob doesn't know it yet.
After Template:Data:Links closes the Krusty Krab due to a lack of business, Squidward holds a yard sale and reads How to Defeat Evil Spirits while waiting for customers. SpongeBob borrows the book and learns that the Flying Dutchman's seven lost treasures are needed to defeat him, and that the sock was one of them. SpongeBob then travels to downtown Bikini Bottom to help Mr. Krabs, meets with Template:Data:Links, and collect eight of nine letter tiles in downtown Bikini Bottom, before helping Template:Data:Links in her treedome and finding the Flying Dutchman's dentures.
SpongeBob then travels to Jellyfish Fields and gets a reef blower and a bus ticket to Chum World, as well as finding the Flying Dutchman's glasses. He then helps Sandy clean up downtown Bikini Bottom and finds the Dutchman's wig in the construction site, before travelling to Chum World and collecting eight of the nine letter tiles in the area. SpongeBob then gets a bus ticket from Larry the Lobster and travels to Goo Lagoon, where he finds the Dutchman's girdle, before going back to Chum World and getting a letter tile from Template:Data:Links, which leads him to the Dutchman's backscratcher.
After collecting six of the Flying Dutchman's lost treasures, SpongeBob travels to the Dutchman's Graveyard, where he collects the final letter tiles and finds a portrait of the Dutchman's mother, which is the seventh and final lost treasure. SpongeBob then goes to the Flying Dutchman's ship, rescues his friends that were kidnapped by the Dutchman, and defeats the Flying Dutchman.
