When this episode first aired, it was paired up with "The Ghost of Plankton."
This is the second time that Karen, Sandy, and Mrs. Puff form their friend group (the Gal Pals), after "Girls' Night Out."
Pearl becomes the newest Gal Pal.
This is the second episode that Karen appears in but Plankton is not, the first was "Mall Girl Pearl."
In this episode, they credit Kristen Morrison as a storyboard artist, when usually they credit the storyboard director.

Cultural references

While swinging on a vine, SpongeBob shouts, "I am SpongeZan, lord of the brine apes!" This is a parody of Tarzan, lord of the apes.
