This episode's existence was hinted at on October 31, 2022, when storyboard artist Amanda Donahue stated on Tumblr that there was an "great episode coming up that had the Star family being extra kookie and giving [her] Addams vibes," inspiring her to draw art of the series' characters as members of The Addams Family.[3]
Its plot, title, and packaging code were all confirmed on May 1, 2023.

- This episode was initially supposed to premiere on August 24, 2023 at 1:00pm, later 5:00pm, but was later pulled for unknown reasons.
- On its new date, it was originally going to premiere at 5:00pm, but it was moved to 4:00pm.
