Barbecue nuts

Template:NC Template:OTab Template:Object Barbecue nuts are cooked acorns and a food item served at the Krusty Krab that appear in the episodes "Surf N' Turf" and "Hot Crossed Nuts."

Ingredients

They are shown to only use a single ingredient, acorns. Template:Data:Links makes them by using a barbecue grill supplied by Template:Data:Links.

When they are fully cooked, they look like regular acorns except with some smoke on them.

Role in series

"Surf N' Turf"

It was seen that Sandy was making barbecue acorns on a grill and flips them with a spatula, while chasing Mr. Krabs with her submarine.

"Hot Crossed Nuts"

In the episode, Sandy decides to bring her own creation to the Krusty Krab so she may eat them, but Template:Data:Links worries as he states it's against the policy to bring in outside food. Mr. Krabs confiscates the nuts and tries them, resulting in him hiring Sandy and getting a grill to cook them on. Seeing that the orders are only for the Krabby Patty and none for her nuts, SpongeBob advertises them to Bubble Bass and he tells everyone else that they are good, causing the nuts to become more popular.

It proves to be very popular to the point that Mr. Krabs renovates the restaurant and renames it as "Kowboy Krab's Nut Shack" as well as bringing in more barbecue grills to increase supply. Unfortunately for SpongeBob, this overwhelms him as he is left with no work and Sandy puts the nuts in the disposal and leaves so that SpongeBob gets his job back. This causes the customers to get mad and throw a riot as well as eating the Krusty Krab since it was flavored from the smoke of the nuts.

In the end, Mr. Krabs gets his karma by being forced to give away Krabby Patties for free under the order of Sandy.

Trivia

• Acorns are toxic as they contain bitter tasting tannins. They must be boiled before consumption to remove said tannins.
