Mr. Krabs is about to put a Large Time Capsule in a hole, but Spongebob and Patrick somehow ended up in it. Plankton is spying on them and learns Mr. Krabs will put a

copy of the Formula in the Time Capsule. Then he tries to get in the Time Capsule to try to steal it. Squidward then climbs out the hole Plankton makes, thinking that it's been 50 years, then climbs back in the Time Capsule. Squidward steps on Plankton when he has the formula, making him eat it. The episode ends with Plankton trying to poop the formula.

  • The date on the giant tartar sauce drum was May 1st, 1960.

  • When SpongeBob imagined what the future will be like, everything was chrome just like in SB-129.
  • When Patrick imagined what the future will be like, live action snapshots of Los Angeles, California were shown.
  • When Squidward imagined what the future will be like, the Krusty Krab was buried in sand just like in Spongehenge.
  • Krusty Krab Time Capsule is a parody-spoof of "Chile Bicentennial Capsule".

  • When the episode first aired it paired with Shellback Shenanigans but later it paired with Enchanted Tiki Dreams.
  • In Squidward's imagination of the future, it is impossible for him to have a Memorial Museum, and the people wouldn't look like squids.
  • The tartar sauce container says the serving size was 1 million, however, as stated in SpongeBob's Last Stand, over 1 million people have been served at the Krusty Krab. Tartar sauce is in all Krabby Patties.
  • When SpongeBob and Patrick are playing "Hide and Seek", a backwards version of the portrait of Squidward that, in Squidward's imagination of the future, the leader Squid in a hot dog suit was holding.
  • Patrick calls the rock he wants to donate "Rocky," like his pet "snail" from The Great Snail Race. However, this rock is gray and bumpy, rather than brown and smooth.
  • When "Squidbeard" thinks he's been asleep for 50 years, he runs to a mirror. In the mirror, it looks like Squidward is floating in mid-air.
  • In Spongebob's future Fred is orangish peach unlike other episodes where he is light brown or is blue.
