The episode name was confirmed in a tweet by Vincent Waller on December 12, 2016. In the tweet, he also confirmed that Doug Lawrence wrote the episode.

Trivia

• Despite being said the Primitive Sponge was returning, a new cave sponge returned instead.
• The fourth wall is broken when at the end when Cave sponge hits the screen with his club, causing to crack.
• This is the second time SpongeBob actually goes to jail. The first was in Driven to Tears.
