Dumped

Template:Episode "Dumped" is a SpongeBob SquarePants episode from season two. Gary leaves SpongeBob and starts playing with Patrick, so SpongeBob tries to get a new pet to make Gary jealous. However, the new pets aren't as good as Gary.

Plot

SpongeBob SquarePants introduces Gary the Snail to Patrick Star, and they have a sleep-over together. The next morning, Gary doesn't want to leave Patrick. Out of jealousy, SpongeBob gets a new pet, just to show to Gary that he doesn't mind Gary not being with him. At first, he gets Rex, a worm. He also leaves him. Next, he gets Larry, who's very rude and arrogant. He also leaves him. Later, when Patrick does his laundry, at SpongeBob's house, Gary crawls in to the washing machine and Patrick thinks that Gary liked him for his shorts, but SpongeBob finds out that Gary only wanted the cookie that was inside Patrick's pocket. As SpongeBob and Gary, now reunited, go outside for a walk, a heartbroken Patrick stares after them and shouts, "Gary? I thought what we had was special!"

Trivia/Goofs

• When SpongeBob is sad in this episode, depressing music is played in the background
• When SpongeBob thinks of the sleepover Patrick is having, Patrick audibly says "blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah" in the background.
• It is revealed that SpongeBob has another pet snail, Jerry: A photo-realistic (land) snail.
• Its also said by SpongeBob that Jerry is "very different" to Gary (as well as Lary) maybe because Jerry is photo-realistic or because of he´s a land snail.
• When SpongeBob carries Gary away from Patrick, when it zooms in on Gary, his sleeve turns golden yellow.
• When SpongeBob gets Lary, he states that Gary's name "will not be mentioned in this house". Very quickly after he mentions Gary's name.
• This episode was played in the DVD recording of "Bikini Bottom Best Friends Collection" with Survival of the Idiots.
• Tenth episode to have flowers in the title card background.
• The title card resembles Patrick SmartPants and Penny Foolish, but with yellow writing than pink. However, this episode takes place before Patrick SmartPants.
• When SpongeBob was mad when Gary went to Patrick, he said, "who took care of you when your eyes were sore {or tore}" but the captions keep switching off between "sore" and "tore" every other time the episode plays.
