This episode's existence was hinted at on October 31, 2022, when storyboard artist Amanda Donahue stated on Tumblr that there was an "great episode coming up that had the Star family being extra kookie and giving [her] Addams vibes," inspiring her to draw art of the series' characters as members of The Addams Family.^[1]

Its plot, title and packaging code would all be confirmed on May 1, 2023.
