Synopsis
Owen Holt exclaims that they have a special guest coming up to announce the nominees for the next award, telling the audience to prepare themselves to dive in to the undersea world of Bikini Bottom. SeanDoesMagic says that he doesn't have a scuba suit, so Owen tells him to hold his breath. Owen then spouts out the "special guest" presenting the nominees, and that happens to be Patrick Star.
Patrick is then shown on screen, ready to present the anemones for "Favorite Animated Show," but is then told off-screen that he's reviewing the "nominees," leaving the star in confusion, as he doesn't believe it's a word. Patrick then begins to announce each nominee, starting with Teen Titans Go!. As the screen is ready to move on to the next nomination, Patrick cries for them not to leave. The next nominee he announces is Rugrats, which Patrick says pronounced backwards is "Stargur." After that is The Loud House. Patrick wants to get in the "house," saying that he can be loud. Patrick excitedly moves on to The Smurfs, then saying that he sneezed. After running past Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, he moves on to SpongeBob SquarePants - saying that he knows that guy.
Patrick thanks Sean, Owen, and Pierson for doing a read of the 'noms' "wherever this is" for "whatever that was," moving on with his life to ponder about bubbles.
Trivia
- This is the first time shows from other networks has officially been mentioned in the SpongeBob franchise, with both Teen Titans Go! and Jurassic Park: Camp Cretaceous from Cartoon Network and Netflix respectively being spoken out by Patrick while reading the nominee list.
- Clips from "Salty Sponge" can be seen when Patrick announces SpongeBob SquarePants as a nominee.
- This is the second time in which a SpongeBob character announced the nominees for the Kids' Choice Awards. The first was the "2000 Kids' Choice Awards short."
- This short premiered during "Kids Choice Awards: All the Noms," a Nickelodeon special in which SeanDoesMagic, Owen Holt, and Pierson Wodzynski guided the audience through the 2023 Kids Choice' Awards nominees.
- Along with the rest of the special, this short received 108,000 viewers on premiere, making it the lowest-rated piece of SpongeBob media in history.[1]
- The animation used here is the same as the one presented in the NFL short "Slime Time!," the "2022 Kids' Choice Awards short," and Patrick's commentary segments during the NFL Nickmas Game.
