The iron lung is a machine that provides someone without a laugh box with a laugh. It plays major roles in the episodes "Funny Pants," "Suction Cup Symphony," and "Code Yellow."

Description

The laughing machine is a large object made of metal. It also has an air bag that helps the person breathe and laugh.

"Squidville"

"Iron lung" is used as an insult by Squidette.

"Survival of the Idiots"

Sandy, dreaming during her hibernation that she is Sheriff Sandy, says that Pinhead Larry is going to be wearing an iron lung when she is through with him.

"Funny Pants"

It appears in SpongeBob's thoughts. In his day-dream, Sandy tells Patrick a joke, and they laugh. The machine generates a robot laugh. Patrick and Sandy stop laughing and back away slowly.

"Suction Cup Symphony"

Patrick uses it while Squidward is leading his symphony to the Bikini Bottomites.

"Code Yellow"

Mrs. Puff is seen in an iron lung, to which SpongeBob drives around the hospital, until eventually Mrs. Puff gets free and is able to puff again.

• The laughing machine looks similar to the Iron Butt that appears in the episode "I Had an Accident."
