The kelp creatures are a colony of walking kelp that teach Plankton the ways of kelp. They appear in the comic The Coming of the Golden Kelp!
Description
The kelp creatures are slim strands of kelp with arms and legs. Their fronds have healing capabilities and the kelp are peaceful creatures that know the martial art of kelp-kwan-foo.
Role in comic
After Plankton crash lands into a bed of kelp, several kelp creatures move to his aid and heal him, before eventually teaching him the art of kelp-kwan-foo and helping him reach serenity. These teachings transform Plankton and infuse him with kelp powers, turning him into the Golden Kelp. The kelp creatures then give him a mask and belt, and Plankton tells the kelp that he will use his powers for good, before flying back to Bikini Bottom.
