The space-time vortex is the common science fiction name for an area that characters enter when they travel through time and space. It first appears in the episode "SB-129."

Inside of this area is a black and green spiral, along with random objects that were created during the moment of time the machine was currently in.

Traveling through time stretches the bodies of Mermaid Man, Barnacle Boy, SpongeBob, and Patrick.
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water
While traveling through time, Plankton and SpongeBob are sent through the space-time vortex, which is seen during scenes where "Squeeze Me" plays.
