SpongeBob's tuxedo is a formal outfit worn by SpongeBob SquarePants occasionally during special events. It first appears in the episode "The Chaperone."

Appearances

After its debut, his tux has been changing appearance.

In its debut, it is a black tuxedo with a white shirt underneath, a pink flower (called a Boutonnière) and his usual red tie with a red stripe at the bottom of the shirt. SpongeBob also wears a black wig.

In "To Love a Patty" and "Truth or Square," (during the wedding scene) the tuxedo remains the same except the wig is removed, and the tux is now gray.

In many episodes such as "Squilliam Returns," "Suction Cup Symphony," "Overbooked," "The Clash of Triton," and "Chum Fricassee," SpongeBob's tuxedo is black with the usual red tie and white shirt with a purple collar and purple stripes. In some of these episodes, the tux has a black tail (called a tailcoat) but some of the episodes he doesn't have a tail (called a dinner jacket).

In "Krusty Katering," Mr. Krabs covers SpongeBob's pants with Squidward's cephalopod ink for a tuxedo appearance.
