The following is a sample of what the Trivia section for SB-129 would look like in my proposed idea. (I know that this does not feature every episode in the Trivia template.)

Trivia

  • This is the first time a title card is animated. The second would be in "Prehibernation Week."
  • This is one of two episodes where the opening credits do not appear in an underwater background. The other episode to do this is "Krusty Krab Training Video."
  • The fact that the time machine is a small, phone booth- or elevator-like room could be a slight reference to Doctor Who.
  • This is the only episode where the episode's name is spoken when the title card appears.
  • According to Tom Kenny, this episode is the most surreal episode in the SpongeBob series.
  • The Serbian name for this episode is SB-192.
  • The German name for this episode is "Die Zeit-Maschine" (The Time Machine).
  • This is the only time the title card letters are floating.
  • The episode, which arises from Squidward time-traveling and inventing the game of jellyfishing while seeking to avoid SpongeBob and Patrick as they want him to jellyfish with them, is a time paradox known as a causality loop.
    • Thus, a person is inspired or driven by an event to time travel and, whether or not intentionally, causes the event which will facilitate their initial time traveling trip.
  • The background of this episode's title card is also seen in "Can You Spare a Dime?" when Squidward pictures himself as an astronaut.
  • The future is chrome after 2000 years.
    • In "SpongeHenge," Jellyfish Fields is still as it was after 3000 years.
      • Either Jellyfish Fields was never made chrome, or after 1000 years, everything was reinstated as they were before the chrome transformation.
  • This is the first time Squidward swallows his clarinet. The second was in "Squidtastic Voyage."
  • The later special "SpongeBob B.C. (Before Comedy)" seems to take place after the prehistoric time period shown in this episode, as the primitive characters in that episode are more civilized and have developed a simple language.
    • Three scenes of this episode can even be seen during the special's original song "When Worlds Collide."
  • The episode's title, "SB-129," is a portmanteau of the show's abbreviation, the first season, and this being the twenty-ninth episode in the series: SpongeBob - Season 1 Episode Segment 29.
    • Interestingly, despite being marked as the 29th episode by the producers of SpongeBob SquarePants, this episode is actually the 28th episode of the entire TV show.
  • This is the first episode to involve time travel.
  • In Nickelodeon Southeast Asia during the marathon of Squidward's big holiday contest, this episode was known as "SpongeBob 3000."
  • This is the first episode to have everything covered in chrome.
  • When Squidward is in Nowhere, his footsteps make different sounds than usual.
  • SpongeTron mentions that he has 486 clones, one for each letter of the alphabet.
    • This means over the course of the two millenia, 460 more letters have been added to the alphabet.
  • In the future, the entire Bikini Bottom is chrome, except for the hinges on the freezer door, which had been rusted over the last two millenia, the freezer's interior, the time machine's interior, and the Bikini Bottom civilians.

Surprised Primitive Sponge meme.
  • When Squidward says "What are you simpletons doing?!," Primitive Sponge makes a surprised face that has become a popular meme on the internet and Twitter.[1][2]
  • The jellyfish are smaller in the past, compared to the present day's jellyfish.
  • This is one of the few episodes in which The Krusty Krab is featured without Mr. Krabs.
  • In the Polish dub, SpongeTron is called, "SpongeBot" and Patron is called, "PatrickBot".
  • This is one of the few episodes in which many characters make their debut.
  • This episode premiered on New Year's Eve of 1999 along with several other Nicktoons episodes with futuristic themes in celebration of the new millennium.
  • Primitive Sponge and Star are similar to SpongeGar and Patar from the prehistoric episode, "Ugh".
  • This episode is the third of eleven episodes to be released on a Blu-Ray disc.
  • This episode may take place after "Patrick! The Game" because, in this episode, Patrick knows people invent games, and in "Patrick! The Game" he thinks games grow on trees.
    • It's possible Patrick forgot.
  • On the old Nickelodeon website, this episode was falsely listed as "SpongeBob 3000."
  • The scene with the Primitive Jellyfish would later appear in the episode "Ugh," as well as before the play menu appears on the DVD main menu of SpongeBob Goes Prehistoric.
  • This episode has some similarities with the Futurama's first episode, "Space Pilot 3000":
    • Both episodes involved a character (Philip J. Fry and Squidward, respectively) frozen into the distant future (one and two millenia, respectively).
    • This episode premiered on New Year's Eve of 1999, the same day when Fry got frozen to the New Year's Eve of 2999.
    • Both episodes were premiered on 1999, although this episode aired nine months after "Space Pilot 3000".

Timeline

Time Cards

The only time card featured in this episode is "2000 years later", which was used between Squidward saying, "I'll be out of here in no time." and the hinges rusting off in the future.

Errors

  • Throughout two millenia, Squidward's face can be clearly seen through the freezer window, which means he should have been noticed by those around him.
  • When Squidward exits the time machine in the past, there are two red lights at the top.
    • When he entered the time machine in the future, there was one red and one green light.
  • Even though The Krusty Krab was closed in this episode, the doors are still unlocked.
  • The first time Squidward enters the time machine, the switch reads future on the top and past on the bottom.
    • The next time he enters, the two are reversed.
  • At the start of the episode, SpongeBob's pineapple house only has one window, as opposed to two. This error also occurs in "Boating School".
  • Before SpongeBob's alarm clock goes off during the start on the episode, it was facing the bed, when it goes off, it was facing Squidward.
  • When Squidward enters the time machine, the door knob changes sides.
  • When Squidward exits the can opener room, he looks like a spring.
    • After he enters the time machine, he returns to normal.
    • Also when he was springy there is a spot between his legs and his shirt that flickers from blue to brown for a few frames.
  • When Squidward runs in Nowhere, his clarinet disappears, but when he falls back into the time machine, it reappears. It then disappears when he exits the time machine.
  • After SpongeBob snores at the beginning, when he exhales, closed-captions said "(Gary meows)."
    • Gary does not appear in this episode.
  • This episode was said to take place during Sunday, but March 6, 2017 actually occurred on Monday.
  • When Squidward was running to The Krusty Krab, SpongeBob's tie was black instead of red.
  • When Squidward went up to the bush where Primitive Sponge was, Squidward puts one arm towards it, but in the close-up he uses two arms.
    • Also, he would have to put his clarinet down. But, he did not put it down in the scene before.
  • When SpongeTron says "Everything is chrome in the future," there are some barrels that are not chrome.
  • SpongeTron somehow knows Squidward's name, even though Squidward never told him.
    • It's possible that SpongeTron, being from the future, was somehow able to tell what his name was using advanced technology, or simply, intelligence.
  • Squidward wonders why SpongeBob is not at work. However, he should know the answer because he would also have to work if it was not a Sunday.
