Help Wanted

So...the first episode of SpongeBob. Why did I ever find this overrated? I love this episode, for many reasons. First of all, it's super funny. I laughed so hard during many scenes of this. Also the atmosphere is pretty cool. I absolutely adore the look of a literal sea of anchovies and how they are portrayed that way is hilarious. This also works really well as a pilot. It explains the characters well and is a nice little short. The story is also really good. It's a classic underdog story and nice to see Mr. Krabs and Squidward get their comeuppance. Finally, there's the song. Livin' in the Sunlight is an absolutely AMAZING song. It fits so well with the episode and the montage to go along with it has great animation and is a treat to watch. This might just be the highest of its rating in the series. Yes, higher than Who R Zoo? or Dirty Bubble Returns, this is the best Astounding in the show.

Astounding (18/19)

Reef Blower

So...this is just an episode without much humor, but it doesn’t need it in this instance. This is an episode with a really good story and visuals which makes it pretty charming to watch. The contrast between the eager SpongeBob and the lazy Squidward is nice. SpongeBob going crazy to get this shell off his lawn was super funny and the background music along with the visual comedy made for a very amusing episode.

Marvelous (19/19)

Tea at the Treedome

This is the funniest so far. There are a lot of great gags, for example Patrick is hilarious and how oblivious Sandy is to SpongeBob’s need for water is really funny. SpongeBob’s struggle is also fairly relatable, having something right in front of you that you really need is definitely a feeling I’ve had, though for me I wasn’t about to stop breathing. This episode is also a pretty good introduction for Sandy. The fight with the clam was really cool and I liked it. The treedome’s atmosphere is great as well, especially with pan shots all through the place. It’s a cool setting with an awesome design. This is just all around a fantastic episode!

Marvelous (19/19)

Bubblestand

So...wow. I found this episode bad. I FOUND THIS EPISODE SECOND WORST. And let me just say, if you were expecting me to rant on and on about this episode, you are WRONG. This episode was...kinda enjoyable. No, it’s not 19/19, sorry Cmcgrath26. Let’s start with the positives. This episode does have a great atmosphere at times. It’s pretty calm and the music is nice. There are some good jokes, like SpongeBob doing loud work right after saying how peaceful it is, Patrick and the quarter, and the good timing of Patrick saying “good morning.” Also, the technique was fun. I liked it, it was amusing and the animation was pretty good. I liked Squidward’s version too.

However, the episode isn’t perfect. First of all, repeating the technique was just pointless. I liked Squidward’s variation because it was different but SpongeBob just repeats the exact same thing. If something long has already been explained to a viewer and needs to be explained to a character, you don’t need to repeat the entire thing to the audience where the only major change is the fact it shows Squidward’s reaction. Also, this episode has one major problem that just sticks out like a really, really sore thumb: the spitting scenes. I mean, the show would later have much worse scenes involving saliva, but nobody wants to see a good two collective minutes of Patrick and Squidward failing to blow bubbles in the most annoying way possible. It’s just dumb and adds nothing of interest to the plot, while also being one of the series’ most annoying scenes.

So as you can see, I really promoted this one. I don’t exactly know how, maybe the fact my appreciation for season 1 has grown changed my liking for this one or something. Overall, while this one has its problems, it’s not one I wouldn’t go back to.

Divine (12/19)

Ripped Pants

"That was too funny. You are hilarious!" ~Scooter

How perfect that quote is, since Ripped Pants is one of the most hilarious episodes in SpongeBob. I liked the technique in Bubblestand, but as I said before, they don’t need to just copy and paste it. Repeating the joke is not funny. And this episode is intentionally about repeating jokes. I didn’t expect to love this, but the thing is, they do variations on it. They do different jokes everywhere SpongeBob goes and I love every single one of them and the crew does a great job making the jokes never feel too stretched out. They’re all clever and do their own things, and don’t annoy me at all. The sand jokes in the beginning are also hilarious. The moral in this one rocks too. They really explain it in a fun way instead of just saying the lesson. First we have everyone leave SpongeBob (even his pants in a great joke), then he learns he’s not alone where we get even more jokes, and then there’s one of the most spectacular songs in the show. ‘’Ripped Pants’’ is super entertaining and catchy. Overall, I love this episode a lot, as it does a lot with its story while also managing to make a whole lot of jokes.

Marvelous (19/19)

Jellyfishing

So this one is weird. It doesn’t have many problems but also no redeeming qualities. This is one of those episodes that just really exists and doesn’t do much. I liked a few jokes, SpongeBob and Patrick calling each other from across the room was funny and I really liked the opening sequence, but at the same time it’s just incredibly boring and what could have been a fun episode in the vein of Idiot Box, Skill Crane, or Life Insurance just became a boring one that didn’t have the humor making the later episodes better. This episode also feels like they wanted to introduce jellyfishing in some way and didn’t know how to do it, so they made this jumbled up mess, because the pacing in this one just sucks. Half of the episode doesn’t have to do with the title and they threw in random, pointless things like the soup so it wasn’t as long as (or shorter than) most of the SHORTS in the show. And because of how slow the pacing is it doesn’t allow us to really get to know the sport this episode is about. This is one of the show’s biggest mixed bags.

Meh (9/19)

Plankton!

This one is a great introduction episode. Plankton is just awesome in this, he constantly delivers some great one-liners and I love it. Every one of his jokes made me laugh, like his "college educated plan," the map of SpongeBob's brain, the record player, and his lab. Not to mention there are good jokes of SpongeBob going through his house and around town. I don’t have much else to say, but this is a fantastic episode with great jokes and a really memorable villain.

Marvelous (19/19)

Naughty Nautical Neighbors

First of all, I love the beginning of this episode in particular. SpongeBob and Patrick using bubbles to communicate is a really funny idea and I love Squidward’s messages, which make for some really great jokes. It’s a really charming opening scene and I like it a lot. This one also has one of the best stories in the show. Squidward ruining SpongeBob and Patrick’s friendship but making them both befriend him is a pretty clever idea and Squidward getting karma for his plot is good. The episode is a really fun back and forth plot, where SpongeBob and Patrick keep trying to impress Squidward. All the different things they do like SpongeBob playing a song for Squidward are hilarious and Squidward’s horrified reaction to the point where he hides in a trash can is just so hysterical and exaggerated that it doesn’t seem like torture. The episode's jokes are super funny such as "I warmed it up for you," rubber bath toys, and the accordion gag. Overall this is a super funny episode with a really good story.

Marvelous (19/19)

Boating School

I adore this episode. It’s a great introduction to boating school, as unlike Jellyfishing, another introductory episode, it actually keeps focused on what it’s supposed to be about, and they do a lot with it and really get the point of boating school across. First of all, Mrs. Puff’s boating school has a really good atmosphere. They make a pretty short track actually seem long and almost like an open road, and I applaud the animators for doing that. Speaking of atmosphere, there’s a montage in the middle of the episode that due to its lack of most sound and just music is super calm and I like it.

The humor in this one is also really great. Patrick is funny in this episode, like with “Patrick SquarePants” which was just so random I loved it, and seeing him doing things in SpongeBob’s house during the aforementioned montage, as well as jokes like him testing or preparing SpongeBob for the test with the lucky undergarments and all. Another really fantastic part of this episode was when Mrs. Puff told SpongeBob that he would be cheating. First of all, the build up where Puff jokes about the antenna and Patrick laughs about it is really ironic and funny. Then, the dramatic music close up on SpongeBob’s face when he learns he’s cheating is funny and him going absolutely crazy over the fact that he’s cheating is so fast-paced and hysterical I love it. Mrs. Puff just wanting him to finish and screaming “CHEAT THAT WAY” is super amusing and I love seeing SpongeBob’s breakdown. Overall, this was just a splendid episode that I got a whole lot of laughs out of.

Astounding (18/19)

Pizza Delivery

Ok, this episode is without any sign of a doubt, a masterpiece. This is a legit flawless episode, and the best in 11 WHOLE SEASONS. And I have many reasons why. First of all, the jokes are great. To quote a song, they start comin’ and they don’t stop comin’. Every single one is brilliant, like Mr. Krabs saying they don’t deliver but Squidward does, everything freezing when Squidward doesn’t care about the customer, or how insane Tom goes over not having his drink. There are a lot of littler things that were really good in this episode, like the Krusty Krab Pizza song, the scene where SpongeBob and Squidward are preparing to drive the boat, or the absolutely amazing scene of SpongeBob hitchhiking.

On another note, this episode does SURPRISINGLY well with its atmosphere. Even for a season 1 episode it’s great, it makes the places SpongeBob and Squidward go seem different from each other, and even though they’re not really that different. Whether it’s the opening scene of the Krusty Krab at night or whether it’s the really good looking scene on the left with some great visuals and sound design, the animation and calmness of everything in this episode makes it really nice to watch.

File:Pizza Delivery 072.png

Also, another huge highlight of the episode is SpongeBob and Squidward as characters. First of all, I love their dynamic. How excited SpongeBob is to deliver the pizza and how much Squidward is the opposite of that makes for awesome character interactions. Not to mention, the character traits I just mentioned make the two really fun to watch in this episode as seeing SpongeBob so happy with his pizza song and all is nice, as well as the bored Squidward. Then, seeing Squidward actually feel bad for SpongeBob and stand up for him is spectacular and just a great way to end the episode. So yeah, due to fantastic and endless comedy, a story with characters I can really get invested in, and awesome animation, this is an all around amazing episode I could not find any problems with, and top 5 material for not only pre-movie, but the entire series.

Yes. (20/19)

Home Sweet Pineapple

I enjoy this one a lot, mainly for the comedy. It’s a very joke centered one and I liked scenes like the scene under Patrick’s rock and the montage of building a new house, both of which were really funny. Jokes like “Squid’s taking it real hard,” Patrick’s late reaction to SpongeBob not having a house, and File:Home Sweet Pineapple 147.png -> File:Home Sweet Pineapple 148.png were just amazing, and this episode also has some pretty good atmosphere from the background music played in scenes like the montage or the ending. Overall, this is a pretty joke centered episode I don’t have much to say about.

Astounding (18/19)

Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy

The episode that started a long-running series of sequels and the most "continuity" the show's had. And while the third and fifth episodes in the miniseries may be better when I rewatch them, this is an absolutely perfect start to the Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy series in a lot of ways. It excels in being both an amazing episode in its own right and an amazing start to a series within the show. The episode starts by showing young Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy, then goes to SpongeBob and Patrick pretending to be them in a silly fight against Squidward. This is some great buildup and pacing, as it isn’t the most obvious thing ever that they’re now old men, living in the retirement home instead of doing a secret mission there and therefore makes the reveal a bit more surprising. Then they get to Shady Shoals and meet the real heroes, and the late Ernest Borgnine and Tim Conway do absolutely amazing jobs portraying the characters. I like how Barnacle Boy is more annoyed while Mermaid Man is the crazy old man, instead of them being like the same character. The characters both have stellar personalities. Mermaid Man going absolutely insane whenever anyone mentions evil is hilarious. I really like the different little jokes they do in this episode, like the "to the broccoli" and how the creatures of the deep are all old people too, as well as SpongeBob getting married. Also I thought the main characters painting the invisible boatmobile and Barnacle Boy’s reaction was hysterical. There's some funny jokes when the duo starts fighting SpongeBob and Patrick too. I love how because of how they're like fanboys they're immune to the attacks and LIKE it. Overall this is an extremely funny episode with two great guest stars.

Marvelous (19/19)

Pickles

Two episodes in a row that introduce great new characters. The only thing is, this character appears three times for 8 seasons. Weird. Well, Bubble Bass is a really fun character and his rivalry with SpongeBob makes for a mysterious and interesting villain and one of the series’ most fun. SpongeBob making patties in the beginning is a fun sequence and so is the parts in his house where he just loses his mind. I love how he goes crazy about the simplest of things. The atmosphere in this one was also spot on. I absolutely adore every moment of the final scene. It has a brilliant Western showdown-type atmosphere and a lot of good jokes, as well as a hilarious and unexpected twist. I don't have as much to say as I did with the last one but this is an absolutely spectacular episode.

Yes. (20/19)

Hall Monitor

So this episode is super funny. I like SpongeBob’s long speech, him and Patrick getting ice cream, and the absolutely hysterical climax which is one of the best scenes in the season. The episode's atmosphere is also fairly good, especially at night, and overall the episode just made me laugh a lot. I don't know, but I just really enjoyed this one.

Marvelous (19/19)

Jellyfish Jam

I don't exactly know what it is about this episode but it is great. The humor isn’t really that funny and I only really liked the potty training joke, but for some reason it still kept my attention and a smile on my face. Not many things that made me laugh but I loved both song sequences and the jellyfish just taking over SpongeBob’s house was entertaining. This isn’t an amazing episode but it's not just good either.

Remarkable (13/19)

Sandy's Rocket

This episode has some things I really like. The scenes inside the rocket were really fun and I absolutely loved the part in Squidward's house. SpongeBob and Patrick believing everyone to be alien impostors is a clever story and they do a lot with it. Even though that part of the story takes a while to get started there wasn't a part I didn't like. The "me that's got me" gag was also hilarious and really well-timed. Overall this is a really joke-filled, enjoyable episode, and one of the highest of its rating.

Fabulous (15/19)

Squeaky Boots

Now this is easily the most underrated episode so far in the season. I love all the sequences of SpongeBob dancing around in his boots, the scene with Mr. Krabs and the window was hilarious, and him eventually going insane throughout the course of the episode is really funny, had some good pacing, with some amazing animation. The squeak gets a bit repetitive but it's not annoying. "The deed is done" is a great calm joke to go after a trippy sequence of Krabs going crazy. This was a really entertaining episode that I didn't dislike one bit of.

Marvelous (19/19)

Nature Pants

Many people find this meh but there's a few reasons why I enjoy this episode. A random thing I noticed is that the "camera" angles in this episode look really good and different. Also, the opening scene is pretty cool. I like how they use SpongeBob to put out the fire. The jokes with Squidward, Patrick, and Sandy when SpongeBob first leaves are great, like the can opener, and the 11 minutes line. Also Patrick going savage was hilarious. Then SpongeBob getting back to his house was pretty sweet, making for an overall pretty good episode.

Remarkable (13/19)

Opposite Day

I hate this episode. None of the jokes were funny and the story is horrible and dumb. The "I'm Squidward" gags weren't funny in the slightest and the first montage...I'm done with this joke. I absolutely love this episode. Almost all of the jokes were funny and the story is great and clever. The "I'm Squidward" were super funny and the first montage of SpongeBob and Patrick doing opposite things was really awesome and hilarious. Overall this was a really unique and creative episode!

Marvelous (19/19)

Culture Shock

This episode is honestly great. There's a lot of comedy in it. like SpongeBob’s ideas in the beginning. Pearl's act was also funny and so was Squidward's (and the audience's reaction) as well as the awesome Plankton scene. Also the audience cheering for SpongeBob and being silent for Squidward is just hilarious. Overall I don't have much to say but this was great.

Supreme (16/19)

F.U.N.

This has a very great story. Plankton being friends with SpongeBob is cool and they use it to its full potential. The FUN song is great and one of the best songs in the show easily. Also I love what they do with Plankton and his character. They make him act just as good and for just long enough to make the ending an actually good twist, something later Plankton episodes get progressively worse at. And SpongeBob's reaction actually is a heartbreaking moment, you feel bad for him. This episode also has a lot of good jokes, and the beginning action sequence is really fun (no pun intended). Overall this is an amazing episode!

Marvelous (19/19)

MuscleBob BuffPants

So this was super mixed. It’s a mainly comedy focused episode and I found the comedy to be alright but not much else, which I'll get into later. The beginning is nice, it sets up the theme of SpongeBob being weak and is also pretty funny with the montage of SpongeBob’s imaginary now-muscular daily routine. Next up is the montage at Sandy’s house. It’s pretty fun and nice, and I also kinda like the arm cruncher. When we get into the main plot, it’s just alright. SpongeBob using fake muscles to trick everyone is a good idea, and I like all the visual gags he does with them, like writing the words “thank you,” having muscles on his muscles, and when he points to the snack bar. I didn’t care for the armpit fart jokes though. I also didn’t really like the scene where SpongeBob had the glass on his hand as it was a bit slow but made for some okay conflict I guess. But that’s where we get another flaw in the episode, the conflict isn’t really there. I know he’s not going to win the competition or even lift an anchor since he can’t even lift a cup. What I would’ve done is actually HAD SpongeBob somehow be able to lift it with his Anchor Arms, but having that get him more popular and that’s when the arms deflate. The competition just doesn’t seem like an intriguing conflict. Plus after that, the episode just kind of ends. Sandy’s just mad and SpongeBob changes the channel. It’s not very satisfying. However I did really like the instant replay joke. This wasn’t too funny and it had some flaws.

Meh (9/19)

Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost

Similar to the last one, there's not much I can praise aside from comedy. However this has less faults than MuscleBob and this is much funnier. Like, much funnier. This is one of the funniest episodes of the SHOW, it's just CONSTANT dialogue humor. "I thought he was dead," the wallpaper gag, "ok get in," among a sea of others. Not to mention the game the characters play in the opening scene is hilarious, ridiculous, fun, and one of the best scenes in the season, if not series.

The episode also honestly has a pretty good story. It’s one of the darker ones but SpongeBob and Patrick thinking they killed Squidward (not to mention it seems somewhat realistic and makes sense why they believed they killed him) and that plot alone makes for some really good jokes throughout the whole thing. This really is a super funny episode with a cool plot that's easily one of the most underrated of the series.

Marvelous (19/19)

The Chaperone

This episode would have been a lot worse if it wasn't for the comedy. This episode really has a lot of great jokes, such as the pizza topping line, a Fred falling on Mr. Krabs, every customer disappearing, and the planetarium joke. Also Do the Sponge was an awesome song. During the song when everything just becomes a disaster as the two main characters are just oblivious to it and having was super funny and actually pretty sweet. Pearl actually being happy made for a really nice ending, though the "little flower" gag just felt a bit out of place unnecessary. The very ending, while making little sense, is hilarious. Overall this is an episode mostly held up by its jokes but also with a great song and really sweet ending.

Supreme (16/19)

Employee of the Month

There's a lot of good action in this one. The chase near the middle has some awesome humor and it's really well paced, same with the ending. The scene in the kitchen at the start of the episode also has some really good physical comedy. This is one like The Chaperone that has a lot of humor and I don't want to spend the whole time just listing the humor so that's really all for this review. This is just a super fun episode.

Fabulous (15/19)

Scaredy Pants

This episode doesn’t start the best. It’s not bad but it has little jokes, aside from the blessed story scene, but the second half is where it REALLY picks up. There are a whole lot of good jokes with the costume, the party, and more. I love, as I always do in Halloween specials, scenes like the party that don’t focus completely on being a part of the story and just having fun seeing what everyone is for Halloween, which in cases like Sandy’s makes for some hilarious joke. And the episode gets EVEN better when the Flying Dutchman shows up. He has an amazing performance and a lot of good jokes. It isn’t the best of its type but this is a really good Halloween special.

Astounding (18/19)

I Was a Teenage Gary

Ok, I don’t hate this, but...this was just a failure. This isn’t like Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost where both had a dark plot, but that episode actually had comedy, it did stuff with its story! This episode is one of the most melodramatic in the series, it plays everything so straight due to its utter absence of comedy. The whole middle section is just way too dark and it’s obvious Gary’s not gonna die or anything, though that’s what it makes it seem.

Also, the whole thing with the snail plasma is confusing. It turning SpongeBob and Squidward into snails makes no sense, even for a cartoon! It’s never foreshadowed or anything and just seems like some weird sort of medicine at first. SpongeBob turning into a snail was just dumb and treated way too seriously. Then he basically haunts Squidward and I feel bad for him. He screams a lot, and while not like he does in much worse episodes such as Ink Lemonade, it’s still really annoying. Also, the ending is just UNSATISFYING. They’re snails now I guess. Nothing happens, they just sing and Squidward gets hit by a boot. They don’t change back, nothing is resolved. Listen, I’m not the biggest fan of Gary’s Got Legs but at least that one did more with the “turning into a snail” idea and had a good ending. This one just doesn’t.

Now after all this, it may seem like this episode was horrible. However, it’s honestly not. Patrick’s jokes like him running through the walls and him throwing the boot at the end were fairly funny and none of the aforementioned problems were horrible. This is just a kinda bad episode with a lot of little problems.

Inadequate (5/19)

SB-129

Okay. Why did I EVER find this episode bad? Like seriously. This is an episode that's amazing in so many ways. First of all, it has a great concept. A time travel-themed episode is a cool idea and they pull it off in a simplistic yet really good way. The episode, like most of season 1, also has a great atmosphere. The backgrounds throughout this episode look amazing, both in the future and the past. Both also have really good music that really sets the tone. The prehistoric scenes are so calm and I love their atmosphere. Also the episode itself is pretty good. SpongeBob and Patrick repeatedly asking if Squidward is ready was actually pretty funny. I love the scene in the future as they're just hilarious and SpongeTron is a really fun character. I love the jokes like Squidward's reaction to the future and the chrome joke. Also the past scene were awesome for the aforementioned atmosphere. I also loved the "nowhere" scene for the alone sequence which was so wacky I loved it. The ending was also kinda sweet. I love the fact that Squidward saying he misses SpongeBob was what ultimately brought him back, and the ending joke was also great. Overall I love this episode a lot.

Astounding (18/19)

Karate Choppers

This episode has an amazing atmosphere, in the first scene at least. It’s so calm and nice especially with the music. Also the duck joke was pretty funny. This episode also excels in action, it has some of the best in the series. It’s so fast and well animated. The episode also has some great slapstick. Not to mention jokes like the fantastic hot sauce scene and the over the top crying make this episode hilarious. Also the ways karate is referenced like the guy swatting a fly, the guy fishing (?) and the best scene of the episode, the sandwich making scene is clever. I like the jokes that come out of SpongeBob and Sandy mentioning karate. Everything in this episode makes for one awesome one.

Supreme (16/19)

Sleepy Time

If I were to introduce someone to SpongeBob, this would easily be the first episode I’d show them. This episode gives viewers a taste of every main character on the show aside from Karen and really shows their personalities, while also being hilarious. Seeing a lot of main characters’ dreams is a super clever premise and I love it. I can’t really rank the dreams or anything but Squidward’s was probably the best. This has a brilliant concept, a whole lot of humor, and some stellar visuals as well.

Astounding (18/19)

Suds

This is another creative episode. I like the idea of SpongeBob getting sick as well as the fact it’s executed well and doesn’t look gross or anything. Patrick being a doctor is also a really fun idea that the episode gets a lot of hilarious jokes out of. Then, Patrick and Sandy fighting over SpongeBob is just great and hysterical with jokes like the mobile home line. Finally, the ending with the sponge treatment (and Patrick’s) was just really fun and I loved it. Overall, this is a spectacular episode.

Astounding (18/19)

Valentine's Day

This is one of the funniest episodes this season. Patrick going increasingly berserk over not getting a gift makes for a whole lot of jokes and it’s a pretty interesting concept as well. There’s also a cool factor of a ticking time bomb with Sandy trying to get the balloon to the carnival while Patrick is getting more and more insane, which made the episode pretty exciting. Also there's a great atmosphere as well, with the carnival and all. It’s also pretty nice to see SpongeBob giving gifts to everyone in Bikini Bottom. There’s not really much else to say, this is a really hilarious episode.

Astounding (18/19)

The Paper

This is one of the show’s more simple plots, but I love it. It feels like a prototype for episodes like Snowball Effect, Idiot Box, Slide Whistle Stooges, or Life Insurance, where SpongeBob and sometimes Patrick are doing something Squidward is uninterested in and then gets more obsessed with it than the duo. It’s one of my favorite tropes the series has done. This one is one of the more creative episodes to use that formula but one of the more simplistic as well strangely. There are a lot of creative things like the different things SpongeBob does with the paper, and how insane Squidward went over getting the paper. I love this episode a lot, it has one of the best stories for a really simple one, is creative, and has a whole lot of great jokes.

Astounding (18/19)

Arrgh!

First of all, this episode is really funny. I love a lot of the jokes in it like Patrick being Blindbeard the Pirate and Mr. Krabs constantly showing up at SpongeBob’s house to play the game. SpongeBob just screaming that he wants to go to bed was also hilarious. This episode also has a pretty cool atmosphere, and I love how all of it plays with Mr. Krabs’ pirate theme. It’s a very underused aspect of the show. This episode also puts the Flying Dutchman to use once again, and I like his appearance. Overall I really like this episode.

Astounding (18/19)

Rock Bottom

Ok, if I loved Arrgh!, I ADORE this episode. This episode is just a masterpiece. First of all, it’s a nice way to introduce Glove World, even if it’s short. I kinda like what they do with Glove World since it’s such a wacky idea for an amusement park and it’s funnier with how little screen time it gets. Idk, I just found it funny. Rock Bottom is also an amazing location. I love everything about it, it’s a cool idea and has a wonderful atmosphere. This episode is also hilarious, from the scene in line and SpongeBob running to the vending machine and missing the bus. I also love how they did the ending. It made Glove World seem a lot less random and ended up helping. Overall, this is one of the best of the series.

Walking Small

So, I don't exactly know how it happened, but this is the second best season 1 episode. I'm surprised I didn't end up choosing Ripped Pants or Pickles or Rock Bottom, but I chose this episode. I expected to really like it because I'm a big fan of season 1, but more like the lot of people who find it amazing but only the second or third best rating. But this episode just showed up right in the middle of an already amazing streak of episodes and became one of the show's highlights. Not many think this, but this episode is absolutely legendary. First of all, the plot rocks. Plankton using SpongeBob to get his way makes for a lot of good jokes, and it's so nice seeing Plankton being evil while not wanting the Krabby Patty formula. Granted, he probably wants to sell them at the Mega Bucket, but still, it's so nice seeing the character not say a thing about the secret formula. Then, when SpongeBob comes into play, the comedy is top-notch. ALL the jokes, such as "insertive," SpongeBob telling the guy he can have it, and the line about the tears of joy. I love how SpongeBob's naivety makes him just take everything Plankton tells him literally. There are a lot of other great jokes in this episode, like the land development line or Plankton stating how he is small, which is so funny just for its timing. Finally, I love the ending and how SpongeBob reverses his actions by becoming aggressively nice, as well as Plankton's great reaction to all of SpongeBob's kindness. Overall, this episode is just a true masterpiece. There are constant jokes that never fail to make me laugh out loud, and a really good and original story. This is a perfect example of how great season 1 can be.

Marvelous (19/19)
