Background Contests

  1. All backgrounds have to relate to SpongeBob or they will be removed.
  2. Anyone can start a background contest. However, if you want to start one, it is advised you consult 120d or AMK152 before doing so because of their knowledge of the contests.
  3. Contests should have at least a two week voting period.
  4. At the beginning of the final week, the current standings should be added in a table. It should be removed when the winner is announced.
  5. When submitting a background, please do not use the winner of the previous year. The winner of two or more years past is allowed. If you upload a background that won the previous year, it will be removed.
  6. You are allowed to submit backgrounds that did not win the previous year.
    1. For Summer background contests, this rule does not apply. However, if a background from the previous year has placed in the same position as in the previous year, then it will be disqualified and the next position will be the winner of that placement.
  7. You can make your own background.
    1. If you choose this option, try to make it as about as large as a background.
  8. The ranking of a background goes by how many likes vs. dislikes they have. For example, if a background has 4 likes and 3 dislikes, it has 1 point.
  9. When the winner is announced, he or she should be given a message telling him or her that he or she has won. The message should also feature the background that has won.
  10. When making an entry, you should use the correct format. This format should be provided on the contest page.
  11. If you are going to add an image from the Internet, before submitting an image, please check if that image can be found in a bigger size and submit that image instead.
  12. If you are opposed or neutral, please try to comment on why the image is not a good background choice, rather than the quality of the image itself.
    1. If you wish to point out flaws of the image, please clarify the reason in some detail, to ensure we sufficiently understand your argument. For example, instead of "This image is not colored completely.", explain why this hinders your vote to be a "like". Here is a better version: "This image is not colored completely, which, in my opinion, would make it look weird in the size of the background."
    2. Please do not criticize insignificant things inside the image. There is a difference between mentioning that a mother's day image has SpongeBob and his grandmother and criticizing if an image because it does not have Squidward's window. There is no point to oppose a background for that reason if you like the other elements of the image.
    3. If you are voting on a seasonal background contest and you want to give the reason, "this does not seem like a [insert season here] background" please explain why you do not think that it is.
  13. Contests go by Eastern Standard Time (EST), not Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
