It was given to him at Mrs. Puff's House during the celebration thrown by Mother and Father SquarePants when SpongeBob got his driver's license from extra credit. No Free Rides . Mrs.Puff has attempted to boatjack it. SpongeBob loved the boat alot.
SpongeBob, despite the fact he does not have his driver's license, still keeps it in his garage.

Boaty is an old-fashioned looking boat. It is brown-colored and shaped like a regular boat. It has a radio, which is shaped like SpongeBob's face, and the license plate IM RDY (I'm Ready).
