This is a list of non-fictional places in SpongeBob SquarePants.

Continents

  • North America - The continent which contains the United States, which contains California and Texas.
  • Europe - The continent in which Scotland is located.
  • Asia - The continent in which "Bollywood Bob" takes place.

Countries

  • United States of America - The country in which the states of Texas and California are located.
  • United Kingdom - The country in which Scotland and England are located.
    • Scotland - The home of Sandy's Scottish cousin. This location made a return in "Scavenger Pants," when SpongeBob and Patrick try to find the Loch Ness Monster and bring it back alive.
    • England - Somewhat indirectly mentioned in the game SpongeBob Moves In! with the item "English Toffee."
  • India - The country in which "Bollywood Bob" takes place.
  • Mexico - The country south of the United States of America. It is featured in "Rodeo Daze" and "Pranks a Lot."
  • Canada - The country north of the United States of America. It is featured in "Rodeo Daze."

U.S. States

The U.S. states of Texas and California have been featured more prominently in the series than other states. 48 out of 50 states of the United States in total have made appearances in the series. In the episodes "Pranks a Lot" and "Rodeo Daze," maps are presented that feature 46 states that are not as prominent. Only Alaska and Hawaii have not made appearances in the series. Both maps that appear in the series feature the state of Texas more prominently, as it is where Sandy lives.

Cities/neighborhoods

  • Burbank - The Californian city in which Nickelodeon Studios is located.
  • Encino - The Californian neighborhood in which Patchy the Pirate, Potty the Parrot, and Mrs. Johnson live. It might also be the home of Don of Don's Import Store & Delicatessen.
  • Houston - The Texas city in which Sandy was born.
  • Los Angeles - The Californian city in which Patchy the Pirate, Potty the Parrot, Mrs. Johnson, Will Ferrell (within the SpongeBob Universe), and Don of Don's Import Store & Delicatessen live.
  • Tarzana - The Californian neighborhood in which Will Ferrell lives (within the SpongeBob Universe).

Bodies of Water

  • Pacific Ocean - Most of the series takes place here as this is the ocean in which Bikini Bottom is located.
  • Bikini Atoll - The coral reef in which the Bikini Bottom Island, the landmark that is above Bikini Bottom is supposedly located.
  • Gulf of Mexico - A gulf east of Texas. It is featured in "Rodeo Daze" and "Pranks a Lot."

Celestial objects

  • Earth - The planet in which all of the things above are located.
  • Moon - Earth's natural satellite that all or most of the Bikini Bottomites have visited.
  • Saturn - The planet in which Sandy does a trick on in "Mooncation."
  • Mars - Squidward visits this planet in "Out of the Picture" to make a delivery and gets attacked by Martians. It also appears as a decoration in "Truth or Square" and is mentioned in "Mooncation" and "Whirly Brains."

Other locations

  • Bollywood - The Indian version of Hollywood. "Bollywood Bob" takes place here.
  • Nickelodeon Studios - The place in which SpongeBob SquarePants is made.
