SpongeBob's library is a room located in the bedroom of SpongeBob's house. It first appears in the episode "Boating School."

Description

It is a large room that contains many shelves containing thousands of books, of many different types. There are two doors that lead in and out, one containing a slide to slide down on. It has a light green carpet and a darker green floor, with a brown couch in the room as well. SpongeBob has a chair in this room he sits in which is usually hanging from the ceiling on a fishing hook. In "Suds," "Something Smells," "Grooming Gary," "Sportz?," "Swamp Mates," and "Friendiversary," there is a piano (which sounds like an organ) in the room, a shell fireplace, and a portrait of a possible ancestor of SpongeBob above the fireplace. In "Grooming Gary" and "A Pal for Gary," the portrait is of a jellyfish.

Role in series

"Boating School"

Patrick stays in this room the whole time during SpongeBob's boating test to give him driving tips through the walkie-talkie implanted into his head. He runs away and goes home once SpongeBob reveals to Mrs. Puff that he is cheating.

"Suds"

After the fridge froze the pineapple overnight, the fire in the shell fireplace was turned to ice. SpongeBob slips and slides throughout the walls of every room in the frozen pineapple including this one.

"Something Smells"

SpongeBob is ashamed of ugliness and plays his organ in this room until Patrick stumbles across him. Patrick takes SpongeBob to his hooked chair to tell him a story which does not help.

"A Pal for Gary"

Puffy Fluffy terrorizes the library during his fight with Gary.

"Library Cards"

Patrick reads all the books which leads into him and SpongeBob getting stuck here.

"Friendiversary"

Squidward sneaks into the library to erase himself from the pictures in SpongeBob's memory book.

"Bad Luck Bob"

SpongeBob searches for his lucky tie clip in the library by blowing all the books off the shelves with a reef blower, but he does not find it.

Trivia

• In "Yours, Mine and Mine" and the video game Battle For Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob's room is shown to lead to his library, but in most other episodes, he is shown to have a staircase that leads into his kitchen.
