Outside of the series, Brown is well-known for his roles as Captain Byron Hadley in The Shawshank Redemption and the Kurgan in Highlander.
Biography
Brown was born on January 5, 1959, in Urbana, Ohio,[2] and had an older sister, Beth (c.1957–1964).[3] His mother, Joyce Helen (Eldridge), was a conductor, composer and concert pianist. His father, Clarence J. "Bud" Brown, Jr., was a newspaper publisher who helped manage the Brown Publishing Company, the family-owned newspaper business started by Clancy's grandfather, Congressman Clarence J. Brown. From 1965 to 1983, Bud Brown also served as a congressman, and later as Chairman of the Board of Brown Publishing. The family operated the business until 2010.

- When forming Mr. Krabs' laugh, the show's creator, Stephen Hillenburg was telling Brown to chuckle faster and faster, until he formed the laugh of Mr. Krabs.
- According to a 2013 interview, Brown improvised Mr. Krabs' voice when auditioning for the role.[5]
- Revenge of the Flying Dutchman, Employee of the Month, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, Lights, Camera, Pants!, SpongeBob SquarePants Saves the Day, Nickelodeon Toon Twister 3-D, Underpants Slam!, Plankton's Robotic Revenge, and SpongeBob HeroPants are the only games that had Clancy Brown voice Mr. Krabs.
- Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast and SpongeBob SquarePants 4-D: Ride are the only rides that had Clancy Brown voice Mr. Krabs.
- During the song "The Very First Christmas" in "Christmas Who?," he was unable to sing that high so they hired Dee Bradley Baker to sing Mr. Krabs' falsetto voice.
