- This episode's alternative plot is "SpongeBob and Bubble Bass butt heads over which version of Quasar is better."
- Like a lot of other episodes that have characters from the spin-off series debuting in the main series, this episode marks the first appearance of Captain Doug Quasar in SpongeBob SquarePants.
