- This episode's title is a pun on the phrase "the bucket list," which is term that refers to a list of things where someone tries to make achievements in their life.
- Ironically, Plankton hasn't made any sort of real achievements at the Chum Bucket (as least at this point in the series.)
- The "chum" in the title may be referring to SpongeBob and Patrick as the 'chums' themselves, since the official synopsis seems to not mention the Chum Bucket as a pivotal plot point.
