Synopsis

One morning, Patrick, Squidina, and Tinkle surprise Bunny and Cecil for their anniversary. They get them reservations to a Greek restaurant and quickly push them into the time closet. Patrick cheers that he can throw a party with his friends now that his parents are away. However, a tear from his eye lands on the closet's destination wheel and spins it from the restaurant to a space station.

Cecil and Bunny arrive in space, wearing Greek toga outfits. Bunny notices an advertisement for a Weird Alien Contest hosted by Dale Goppler, with the reward being dinner for two. She and Cecil go off to participate. Meanwhile, Squidina is setting up a tea party for her guests: SpongeBob, Pearl, and Elwood. They arrive, each bringing some items with them. However, a barbarian Patrick shows up uninvited, with his barbarian friends coming too. Squidina faints in exasperation.

Meanwhile, Cecil and Bunny look at the other aliens and come up with a plan to win. They merge their togas together, only to find aliens that already look like them. Cecil gets an idea and runs to the janitor's closet. At the contest, Dale welcomes the contestant. The first is "weirdest smile". Cecil and Bunny, wearing a plunger and bucket on their heads, try smiling together. The next contestant, Gert, smiles so wide that it stretches out of the space station. Dale declares him the winner. Bunny reassures Cecil that they will just have to get weirder in the next round.

Back at the party, Squidina is run ragged by all the medieval guests. Patrick plays spin the bottle with alternate timeline forms of himself. Just then, GrandPat shows up and shames them for throwing a party -- without him. Disco lights flare and everyone starts dancing, as Squidina screams.

The next round of the contest is cooking. Dale gives each of the contestants some humans. Cecil and Bunny are unable to cook theirs, and nervously try stuffing it with food in front of the guest. The alien judge squeezes the human, spraying its food into the hair of another woman. The woman tastes her hair and says that it is delicious, and the judge agrees. Dale declares the human the winner, but she and the others are eaten by the judge as well.

The final round of the competition is a dance-off. The first contestant is a multi-legged alien who impresses the judge. Cecil and Bunny's dancing burns off their togas, exposing their underwear. The alien audience is disgusted by their appearance, with Dale judging them the weirdest ones there. The judge awards them a trophy and flowers.

When Cecil wishes their kids were there to see it, Dale is surprised that there are more of them. He beams down the inhabitants of the house onto the stage. Bubble Bass, who had been trying to squeeze into the house, has his butt cut by the tractor beam. In space, Patrick nervously admits that he had a house party, but Cecil is not mad since they had a fun time at the contest. He takes Bubble Bass's butt and prepares to eat it, mistaking it for a ham. However, the judge swallows everyone whole. They continue to party inside of it.

Production notes

Eliza Herndon:

  • Herndon said she worked on the episode a bit while on the first season of Kamp Koral full-time, and declared that it was an absolute blast.[10]
    • Herndon stated that she tried to get the right amount of smarminess while designing Dale Goppler. She also said that despite only working on this episode for a short period of time, it was still a fun and memorable experience.[6]
      • Herndon later reiterated her points, as she subsequently stated in a Twitter thread that they had a lot of fun working on the Gale Doppler alien, "trying to nail the specificities of that smarmy, arrogant, flashy showbiz acting."[12]
    • She also got the chance to work with Bob Camp, which they were extremely happy about - saying that it was one of the highlights of their career. Herndon was glad that talented people in the industry were "helping to make this be such a unique and special show."[13]
    • Herndon said it was hard to choose a favorite member of the Star family, but she does very much enjoy working with Cecil, loving the "sincere yet cheesy "dad" acting that so often comes with him."[14]
    • Herndon finally stated that "I remember marveling at how crazy things had gotten since I was on in the first half of Season 1. Little did I know just how much more inventive, playful, chaotic and FUN we'd be pushing it since then! Super grateful to be a witness to it all!!"[15]

April "Pinkie" Davis:

  • Davis lent a hand in Bob Camp's team for plussing the boards for this episode, saying it was an unforgettable honor, especially with how his work on Ren & Stimpy influenced her career.[11]

Gabe del Valle:

  • Del Valle said that you can tell if a certain Patrick pose in the episode is one he drew if it's eyestocks are four times taller than usual.[7]
    • He also stated that he drew the characters tighter than he used to while rough boarding this episode, but he gave the storyboard plussers and animators props for capturing the expressions of his loose drawings.[8]

Mike Pelensky:

  • Pelensky "had a blast co-writing and -boarding this with Gabe del Valle under the keen and watchful eyes of Maxwell Atoms and Bob Camp".[4]
  • "I was just settling in and getting familiar with Bikini Bottom (compared to Gabe dep Valle who had done some legit SpongeBob work in the past), so I resolved to take on the bulk of the sequences that were in space.
    • "Our storyboard supervisor Maxwell Attoms was also kind enough to pitch in a bunch of early alien designs, as the prospect excited him. Love that screwball "Mars and Beyond" kind of stuff!"[9]
