Synopsis

Template:Section-expand In the beginning of the episode, SpongeBob, exhausted, walks home from a concert into his bed, with Gary. He falls asleep and starts dreaming about making Krabby Patties in an automated Krabby Patty production line. The Patties come out dancing in unison, and dressed for landing, because all of this is in an airplane. One of the Krabby Patties refuses to fall and kicks SpongeBob out of the airplane. SpongeBob tries to regain control of the plane.

The plane flies out of the dream cloud and runs over Larry and Mr. Krabs' dream cloud, waking them up. The Krabby Patty and Dream SpongeBob fall out of the plane, which destroys the Chum Bucket. They land inside Patrick's dream cloud.

Inside the dream, SpongeBob and Patrick chase the Patty, falling into a giant Patrick's stomach where there's a party. The two chase the Patty, hiding in ice cream codes on giant Patrick's body. They climb a cone out of the dream, and fall into Squidward's dream.

Here, they walk through a gallery at a museum. Squidward's art comes to life and chases the two into Squidward's room, who uses the two as brushes as punishment. Meanwhile the Krabby Patty is being chased by a knight, and ultimately ends up in Squidward's mouth, choking him.

Squidward wakes up, only to find SpongeBob and Patrick in his room, as the episode ends.

Production

The episode was confirmed by Vincent Waller on February 15, 2020.[1]

Release

Trivia

General

  • This is the third Template:Data:Links episode to be six minutes long while paired up with a 16-minute episode. The first is "One Trick Sponge" and second is "Breakin'."
  • This and "Krusty Koncessionaires" are the least-viewed episodes in the series with 0.66 million viewers.
    • The reason for these low ratings was likely due to the U.S. 2020 election results coming in.
  • This episode and "Krusty Koncessionaires" tie into each other,[2] as this episode takes place directly after the last episode starting with SpongeBob coming home from the concert.
    • This is the second pair of episodes to be tied into each other. The first was "Swamp Mates" and "One Trick Sponge."

SpongeBoy can be seen on the TV for a split second
  • The episode's plot is similar to "Sleepy Time," as both involve SpongeBob exploring other people's dreams, however, it is different.
  • Among many flashing images on the TV in SpongeBob's dream, an image of SpongeBoy is visible for a split-second.

SpongeBob and Patrick being chased by Octopi and his friends
  • Octopi from Template:Data:Links's Bold and Brash painting and the Squidward sculpture from "Are You Happy Now?" are seen alive in his dream.
  • A clip was used during a Nick Is With You promo on March 21, 2020.
  • A clip from this episode was released in "Top 5 Funniest Moments from New Episodes" video on official Nick Russia and Asia Facebook account on November 24, 2020. [3][4]
  • There was a cut scene from the rough animatic where it ended with Roger Bumpass waking up from a nightmare and seeing Tom Kenny and Bill Fagerbakke sleeping in his bed then screaming. This was likely cut due to its suggestive look.
  • This is the first time the track "Overture in Sea" was used in a title card since "Squidward's School for Grown-Ups."
    • This is also the first episode the track "The Thieving Magpie Overture" was used since that same episode.
  • This is the second episode in which SpongeBob enters his friends' dreams. The first was "Sleepy Time."
  • In this episode, Mr. Krabs is shown sleeping on a bunch of money and in his underwear, however in some episodes such as "Squeaky Boots," he's shown sleeping on a hammock and in pajamas.
  • The pizza guy is a reference to what SpongeBob and Squidward did in "Pizza Delivery."
  • Nickelodeon classifies the episode as the first since "Reef Blower" not to have dialogue, although SpongeBob has a few speaking lines at the beginning.[5]
  • This episode is Jennie Monica's last episode as being credited as a producer, with her being credited as a co-executive producer in "A Place for Pets."
  • This is the last episode to have the Viacom International Inc. logo, changing its name to ViacomCBS International Inc.

SpongeBob's purple night hat
  • The Dream Krabby Patty hides in a cone with reddish pink ice cream. But when SpongeBob and Patrick find him, the ice cream is cyan.
  • Near the end of the episode, SpongeBob's night hat turns the exact same color as Squidward's for a frame.
  • In the credits, Doug Lawrence is credited for voicing Plankton, despite his evil laugh not being voiced.
