Trivia
General
- The title of this episode is similar to that of the SpongeBob SquarePants episode title "Krabs à la Mode."
- The "o" in "Mode" has a bowl of ice cream. This references the fact that Patrick wants ice cream before doing his show.
- Much like the episode's sister segment, "Stair Wars," the iTunes version of this episode also uses the regular SpongeBob font instead of the font used regularly on the credits of this spin-off.
Cultural references
- Squidina's popsicle looks like a Bomb Pop.
- Like "Banned in Bikini Bottom," the ice cream prohibition story GrandPat tells is a reference to the real world prohibition on alcohol in the United States.
- Rough-Bowl is "named after/designed to resemble a Fleischer-ized manatee version of Rough-House from the Popeye comics!"[1]
- Prohibition Patron 2 "is inspired by the fishes from "Small-Fry" (1939)!"[2]
- Errol Claw, Irving S. Krab, Squiddy Jones, and Freda Angelfish are "all made to resemble (but not be) caricatures you'd find in a 1930s Hollywood Steps Out cartoon."[3] "They're all mixes of 30s celebrities but no one in particular...except for for[sic] the angel fish, which is just supposed to be Josephine Baker."[8]
