Synopsis
In the beginning of the episode, Mr. Krabs makes SpongeBob work for Old Man Jenkins at his farm so he can pay his grocery bill. He also sends Patrick to help SpongeBob do his chores.
Their tasks are to get eggs from oysters, feed the worm hogs, milk Ol' Bessy, and harvest Old Man Jenkins' field of kelp. They finish all these chores and after they get off the tractor due to finishing the last chore, SpongeBob and Patrick get excited for the barn dance.
However, the tractor is still running and crashes into the barn. In order to still have a barn dance, SpongeBob and Patrick raise a baby barn to a grown-up. After that, they have the barn dance, until some aliens arrive due to seeing an invitation made by the tractor on the crop field.
They hangout for a while until they have to leave to destroy the universe. Mr. Krabs arrives to pick SpongeBob and Patrick up, and as they are driving, they get abducted by a UFO, as the episode ends.
Production
The episode was confirmed by Vincent Waller on August 7, 2018.[1]

Release
- This episode is available on the SpongeBob SquarePants Vol. 20 digital collection and The Complete Twelfth Season DVD.
Trivia
General
- This episode was paired up with "Surf N' Turf," an episode from season 11, during the original airing, but has since been re-airing with "Gary & Spot."[4]
- Both episodes premiered on Remembrance Day.
- This also makes this the only season 12 episode to be paired with a season 11 episode during the original airing.
- Starting with this episode, Marc Ceccarelli and Vincent Waller are credited as co-executive producers instead of supervising producers.
- The storyboard director credit is used again starting with this episode.
- This is the first episode to use "Hillbilly Party" as the title card music since "Trenchbillies."
- This is the second episode in which Patrick is shown to have a driving license. The first was "Driven to Tears."
- This episode also reveals, aside from having a driver's license, Patrick also has licenses for fishing, marriage, tractors, and crop circles.
Episode references
- The pictures on SpongeBob and Patrick's badges are a reference to their poses from "Mid-Life Crustacean."
Cultural references
- SpongeBob posing next to Old Man Jenkins references the 1930 painting American Gothic.
- "Artist Unknown" and "The Check-Up" also reference this.
- The scene in which the baby wormhog isn't able to obtain any food, but is graciously offered some grub by SpongeBob is a parody of Wilbur taking food from Fern from the 1952 book, Charlotte's Web.
- A "Barn mitzvah" is held for Old Man Jenkins' farm; this is a parody of a Bar mitzvah, a coming of age ceremony held for boys in Judaism once they reach the age of 13.
Errors
- When Mr. Krabs throws a bag of potatoes at SpongeBob, his tie and eyelashes are missing.
- When SpongeBob feeds the small worm hog, he is outside of the fenced area, but in the next scene, he is inside the area.
- When SpongeBob throws the baseball at Patrick, his eyes disappear for a frame.
- When SpongeBob is feeding the baby barn, his left arm is tiny.
- When SpongeBob and Patrick are next to a jelly-covered Old Man Jenkins, SpongeBob's left leg is missing.
- When the first farm alien comes out, in the outhouse behind him, the other farm aliens are absent.
- In an exterior nighttime shot of the barn, when the tractor drives by and everyone is dancing, the characters dancing is not looped correctly.
- After Patrick stops the tractor, it is not seen or heard mowing for anymore of the episode until the farm alien mentions it.
- At the beginning of the episode, the Krusty Krab is right next to Old Man Jenkins' farm, but it is much further away when they are driving back at the end of the episode.
