Template:Person Andrew Douglas "Andy" Paley (November 2, 1952November 20, 2024; aged 72) was an American songwriter, record producer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist who formed the 1970s power duo The Paley Brothers with his brother Jonathan. He also worked in film and television, composing scores and writing songs for The Ren & Stimpy Show, Camp Lazlo, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years.

Biography

Andy Paley was born on November 2, 1952 in Washington D.C. He is best known for working for different artists, including Brian Wilson, Jonathan Richman, and Jerry Lee Lewis. Besides the musical industry, Andy also composed musical pieces for some animated series, such as The Ren & Stimpy Show, Camp Lazlo, and, most notably, SpongeBob SquarePants.

Initially, he joined The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, serving as a songwriter for "The Best Day Ever" along with Tom Kenny. Their collaboration on that song eventually led to them becoming close friends. They would continue composing songs together until Andy's death.

Two years later, Andy was asked to work on SpongeBob again. He composed some music cues for an episode "Best Day Ever" in which his song of the same name was also used. After that, he left the show and only returned to it after thirteen years. Besides SpongeBob, he also took part in Kamp Koral composing some pieces for that show as well.

Andy Paley passed away on November 20, 2024 in Cholchester, Vermont at the age of 72. The cause of the death was throat cancer.
