The dancing anemone is a sea anemone that appears on television in the episodes "Your Shoe's Untied," "The Sponge Who Could Fly," and "Rise and Shine."

Description

It is an orange anemone that likes to dance around. It appears on some sort of TV channel underwater. It makes its TV appearance in 3 different episodes.

Role in series

"Your Shoe's Untied"

It appears at the beginning of the episode when Template:Data:Links is watching his TV and the anemone appears on the screen dancing. SpongeBob seems to enjoy watching it perform. However, when Template:Data:Links comes in, he hastily changes the channel.

"The Sponge Who Could Fly"

It appears when Template:Data:Links tries to rewind his TV at the end of the episode but clicks on different channels instead. In one of the channels, the orange anemone is seen dancing.

"Rise and Shine"

Template:Data:Links watches the dancing anemone on Bikini Bottom News.

Trivia

  • The scene where SpongeBob watches it dance only for Gary to startle him has become popular on the internet.
  • The Dancing Sea Anemone in the SpongeBob Squarepants franchise in question, appears to be threatened; mostly sensing a predator as they're preyed upon fish, sea stars, and crabs. This sea anemone begins to wiggle away ready to pop off its substrate, vigorously beating its tentacles to swim out of reach. Although this approach is inefficient (they barely stay buoyant for more than 15 seconds), it works. These 15 seconds give them enough time to evade the nudibranch and continue their underwater life.
  • This character in real life is one of the few species of sea anemones that can pop off their pedal disk off their perch and stretch their body (if it’s long enough) in an awkward dance. This movement can take them as far as 15 meters away from the nudibranch, quite impressive for the ocean equivalent of a couch potato!
