Cultural references
- The title is a parody of the 1997 movie Face/Off.
- When Squidina and Patrick use the time closet to travel to the show's 5th season, they reach a world with all the characters in a style in a parody of Steven Universe. Patrick also mentions that the show has changed networks, referring to the Cartoon Network.
- Patrick's design in the fifth season is reminiscent of how he looked in the SpongeBob: Reimagined short remaking "Idiot Box" in that series' style.
