SpongeMonkey is the first comic of SpongeBob Comics No. 20.

Synopsis

At 6 o'clock, Squidward is clocking out at the Krusty Krab when SpongeBob suddenly rushes out, much to Mr. Krabs' confusion, not thinking he was watching the clock. SpongeBob has plans to go camping with Patrick in the Kelp Forest. Krabs wants him that many campers have become lost there. SpongeBob meets up with Patrick and they hike into the forest with their camping gear, frolicing through the forest.

They stop to make camp. SpongeBob had assumed that Patrick packed everything, but when SpongeBob mentioned the tent, sleeping bags, matches, or food, Patrick assumes the only thing they needed was a flip-flop. They sit down in a clearing, but the sounds of the forest scare them. Suddenly, the MonkeyFish appear, much to SpongeBob and Patrick's dismay.

Meanwhile, at the Krusty Krab the next morning, Mr. Krabs looks at the time and notices that SpongeBob is one second late. He becomes worried that SpongeBob is lost, dons an Indiana Jones-style hat and satchel, and declares that he and Squidward are going to find him. A reluctant Squidward joins Mr. Krabs and goes to the Kelp Forest, carrying a large backpack as Mr. Krabs makes a path through the forest with a machete.

They encounter SpongeBob, who has left his pants for a loincloth, and doesn't remember them. Mr. Krabs proceeds to teach him how to be civilized again, and succeeds, and SpongeBob snaps out of it. Worried about Patrick, SpongeBob uses his new jungle instincts to track him down. They find Patrick, who has gone completely wild. Ignoring Mr. Krabs and SpongeBob's warnings, Squidward marches over to Patrick to yell at him, but SpongeBob warns not to get between an alpha male and a cub—or in this case, his banana. As a result, Patrick attacks Squidward.

Later, a safari tour bus is traveling through the forest where they encounter a pride of Monkey Fish—Patrick, Mr. Krabs, Squidward, and SpongeBob now all in the wild.
