Synopsis
The Stars are having a day at Goo Lagoon when Bunny gets a sunburn. Her sentient tattoos, including a sailor named Skip and a hula girl named Leilani, take notice. Bunny gets a new tattoo from a beach vendor, who makes an umbrella to give Skip and Leilani shade. That evening, they take the bus home. Skip wants to give Leilani something for them to remember the day, and sees a flower bouquet tattoo on another passenger, so he jumps onto her skin to grab it. The bus stops at the Star house and the family leaves, with Leilani still on Bunny's skin. Skip tries to follow her, but ends up on the skin of Reg.
Bunny and Cecil watch TV when Bunny suddenly notices Leilani crying ink. She explains her problem to Bunny. Meanwhile, in The Salty Spitoon, Skip notices Reg's "Mom" tattoo and takes the paper to send Leilani a message, using one of Reg's body hairs as a pen. He finds a bottle tattoo on another sailor and goes to him, and puts the message inside. A brawl breaks out between the fighters, and Skip gets his bottle onto a weak patron, and then the mailman. However, he ends up on the skin of a fish with mean, monstrous tattoos who try to attack him.
The mailman delivers mail to the Star house, when Bunny notices the bottle tattoo on his hand. She transfers it to her face and reads it with Leilani, who learns that Skip is trapped on a sailor in the Salty Spitoon. Skip fights off the sailor's tattoos when another fish demands he remove the tattoos due to the damage they cause. After he leaves, Cecil and Bunny arrive and ask about Skip. A fish tells them about the sailor, so Cecil and Bunny rush off.
The sailor visits a tattoo removal parlor, specifically requesting that Skip be removed. Skip defeats the other monster tattoos by tricking the laser into their path, but ends up getting his bottom half removed. As the laser is about to remove him for good, Cecil comes in and jumps into the laser's path, removing a mole on his chest. Bunny reunites Leilani with Skip, who gives her his flowers. Bunny heads back to the beachside tattoo stand and has Skip's bottom half redrawn as a motorcycle. He and Leilani happily ride off into the sunset.

Episode references
- One of the incidental fish's tattoos goes from "MOM" to "WOW" after Bunny's sailor tattoo bumps into it and all of the letters fall onto the fish's arm. This references how Sandy rips that same tattoo and flips it upside down to say "WOW" in "No Weenies Allowed."
- One of the elder fish who ran the Mild Ones gang in season 4's "Born to Be Wild" reappear in the Salty Spitoon.
- Skip and Leilani first appeared in "Mid-Season Finale" and "Pat-a-thon" respectively without names.
- The Stars wear the same beach outfits that they wore in "Gas Station Vacation" and that their prehistoric counterparts wore in "The Prehistoric Patrick Star Show."
Cultural references
- Tattoo Terry's tattoos have strained eyes popping out of their sockets, being an homage to Ed Roth's 1963 cartoon character, Rat Fink.
- The TV show that Cecil and Bunny watch is called Misery Date, which is a reference to the 1965 board game, Mystery Date.
